Does anyone know when the Ducato is due to be replaced? I am considering ordering a new van for 2017 delivery but don't want to if the Ducato is due to be replaced in late 2017 or early 2018.

Mk1 Ducato 1981 to 1993 = 12 years
Mk2 Ducato 1993 to 2006 = 13 years with a mid life update
Mk3 Ducato 2006 to 2017 (when I would be getting van ) = 11 years and has had a mid life update.

With the Sprinter, Transit, Master, and Crafter (due shortly) all having been replaced in recent times it can't be far off for Ducato.

When it comes to cars it's easy with a few searches to find out that say the Ford Focus Mk4 is due around this time next year or early 2018. With vans I can't find any info. Thought others on here may know far more than me, hopefully.

I am NOT referring to the latest Euro 6 engines which I am aware off, I am referring to the whole van.

Thanks in advance.

The new one when it comes will be 2.3 as opposed to the current 3 litre, are you saying you would wait for the "new 2.3"

The new 2.3 is already here and the 3.0 gone. I am not referring to engines but the whole van. Engines get changed much more often these days due to Euro Emmission regulations. I am fully aware of new Euro 6 engines but I not referring to the engines, but thanks for your reply.

As some may know Euro 7 (not yet confirmed) is expected in 2020/21 but this will continue to happen going forward.

I am requesting info on the van rather than the engines.

They only just did the facelift of the current version so I doubt a new model is imminent.

Personally I would always go far the last of the old range rather than the first of the new model! Why risk a new model with all sorts of teething problems when you could have something that has matured and which all mechanics are familiar with the foibles of? My experience of new models has been of endless software upgrades, odd issues that could not be diagnosed and even spares shortages... But each to their own!

Buyer Beware!!. The issues with the Gearboxes (especially the 6 speed ones) on the Latest Variants Are STILL with us.

Reading some of the reports on the Various web sites etc; People are STILL having to have work done on the Boxes, almost from NEW!.

I have a 2007, 37k mile 2.3i example which had the (lost) 6th gear issue addressed 11 months ago. It is due back in the workshops Monday next. When the 'box will once more be removed and sent for assessment for the second time, to see if there is anything that would account for "Missed" gear engagement and "jumping out" (of gear) too. whining noises etc.

I am sure that had I been aware of the issues, I would not have purchased the Vehicle. I really wanted the Merc; Auto. but the Interior Layout was what sold it.

We bought a new van this year it was the facelift model so I would doubt unless they have major issues they won't change for a few years

New versions have to be pre planned over decades so how well a vehicle performs or sells is not part of the picture, if it's planned it'll happen as per plan.

The X290 replaced the X250. You would at least have to call it the MK4

Personally I'd rather stick to my 2008 3 litre with restrictions removed/bypassed. Hard as nails :)

Well that would depend on what nails you refer to Andy..
I mean.. these ones ?

Or perhaps these ones ?

Or even these ones... made from copper..

Thank you for posting that Andy.. i didn't realise they changed the coding. i thought i bought a 250, seems i got the 290.

What restrictions did you get round also, as its pretty good running in standard mode at the moment !

When it comes to buying commercial vans for my business, I have always bought the last of the previous generation as by the end most faults, if not all, should have been eliminated.. And we have got one of the last Euro5 3 Litre engines on our AutoTrail...

Bit late in finding out but the next model Fiat Ducato is due for 2020. Don’t know yet if that’s 2020 model year ie late 2019 or actually in 2020.
