I owned a caravan for six years sold it about 12 years ago, only towed it once from the dealer in Eye to Peterborough Parachute centre a distance of under ten miles. We just lived in it at weekends. I think its still at the parachute centre now, but looking a little tatty!

Most of the kit inside a motorhome, especially Europeans is the same as in caravans anyway, so on the domestic side of NHs you probably know as much as anyone. How have you found the transition from Caravan to MH?

easy peasy

the caravan was great but i hated....

loading the car up with stuff
driving down to the campsite, getting the caravan out of storage
parking on a pitch, emptying the caravan of all our junk
setting up, putting legs down, filling water, doing awnings
unloading car into caravan, sorting outside of caravan

then when time to go home doing the reverse of above

now it is fab, take the mh home on a thursday eve, load up with a few bits,

clean pair of undies and nickers for each of us
fresh crate of beer
some food
fill the water

and gooooooooooooooo.........i just love motorhomes

i used to hate going down the inside lane on the motorway, getting caught in those channels where the lorry wheels go, swinging all over the place

give me a motorhome any day

the only downside of a motorhome is the sheer cost of them, our caravan which was fine and 6.15m double axle was 7k, motorhome was 40+k:whatthe:

but love em for sure.

we had the follwing requirements for a mh

central heating via radiators
large garage

permenant beds front and rear that are always made up

seatbelts for 6+....have 7

6+ berths.....have 7/8

loads of storage

decent engine...pepped up 175hp fiat

good handling and cruising....tag axle helps hugely

table to all seat 4 round

separate shower

nice size kitchen

decent wardrobe

nice big windown and heiki roof thing

sat tv

roof bars

rear ladder

towbar

three seats in cab

aircon in cab

decent stereo

very low miles

like new

we love em!!! :Smile::winky:

We love it too, how could one not?

First one was a Damon Daybreak, bargain but changed for another, newer, Daybreak in much better condition.

Changed that one for a Damon Ultrasport simply because we wanted a slide.

So I guess we have just worked our way up quickly.

Hi Hugh
I always camped until I was about 25 then drifted away from it.
We dabbled with a small Euro van a few years ago and liked it.
Decided to have another go last year went to have a look around and ended up buying the Damon RV.
To say we love it is an understatement it has totally transformed our lives it's the best thing we've ever bought.
I have just taken a few years off work after 39 years in the same job and intend to do some travelling mostly in Europe and cannot think of a better way of doing it. We have travelled a fair bit over the years mostly staying in hotels. Last year we did Dubai which was full of Posh & Becks wannabees we decided that was not for us hence the RV which has opened up a new world for us.
Hope you get as much pleasure from yours as we do ours, I could bore you sick talking about it ::bigsmile:
