hi we have just bought a Talbot express 1300d --2498 cc -when its been stood a while the diesel flows back into the tank ,so to start it we have to open the bonnet and pump the pump(black button) a few times -the guy told us this brings the diesel up and its easier to start -does anyone know if theres something that can be fitted so it doesn't have to be done manually other than that its a great motor -thanks ,rosie(jims at work) :thumb:

You have an air leak in the diesel system. It may be a fuel line, injector pipe or the returns on the injectors.

Have a good look around the fuel lines and look for darker 'wet' patches around the injectors, lines and primer. Once the leaking point is cured, you will not have the problem.

Cheap and easy to do - only costs pence for hose, a primer pump is around ÂŁ20.

One of the most common air leak back problems is the ear clips on the primer bulb. If in doubt, remove them and use correct sized jubilee clips. There should be a non return valve in the primer bulb aswell, but they get weak and allow fuel to get back past them, but it wouldnt be a problem if there wasnt an air leak. if you cant locate the air leak, and it can be difficult sometimes, you can get a cheap non return valve. An electrical fuel pump such as a facet or copy, will also have a non return valve with it. It wont harm to have one of these pushing the fuel from the rear to the injection system.
