Living space and being comfortable with a large garage was the reason we bought our A class. Toured most Counties in this country and managed to get round. At 7.5 metres we get by ok. It's a personal preference but I bought the van I wanted and didnt worry to much about the roads. If you want to drop in at Tescos you can normally park somewhere close if not on the car park but use 2 bays. They dont complain if your spending cash in their store.
