My family are due to go on our very first overnight trip at the weekend.

Just wondering if anyone has any helpful tips or advice.

Many thanks

Don't forget the bottle opener/corkscrew. (I like to be the first with that one) 😊
Often a good idea not to go too far in case you do forget things. I am an inveterate list maker which I find helps. After a while most stuff will stay in the van and all you'll need to grab is food and clothes

Thank you.
Will pack pen and paper and suncream.
Corkscrew and wine glasses packed 😁
We have booked into a site only about 30 minutes away just incase.
That's what I'm hoping to do is to get used to what we need and then only pack clothes etc.

Is it normal to be scared and excited?
Nervous getting water, electricity and gas correct.

Thank you

Dont be afraid to ask for help on site. There is always someone willing to show you how to connect electric, water or getting the gas on.
If you don't want to ask on site come back here for a wealth of information.

:hi2: w2f  PS, you'll need a list - everybody needs a list - two in fact. One for preflight checks and one for contents. Don't forget to include kids, pets and their toys on the list - just in case you forget to a) bring them and b) decide to bring them back.::bigsmile:

Welcome.
Don't fret. What's the worst that can happen?
It's quite normal that you learn that the things you really need are the ones you've forgotten.
At least at this time of year it'll be a short night. ;)
Enjoy, it'll be fine.

Thank you everyone.
I'm going to take advice on asking someone on the site.
Very right what's the worse that can happen. Not too far away from home.
Can't wait to just get out and enjoy with two young kids exploring ☺

Don’t bother taking loads of clothes and shoes… you end up living in the same few simple things. I’ve always pre cooked the arrival nights/days tea and then setting up and getting tea on is now a huge rush. All I have to do is put veg/rice or pasta on of not having salad.

use things from the house… make a list as you go on what’s needed for ‘the van’ and buy end of season sales

smaller towels rather than huge bath sheets too… quicker to dry

gaffer tape, small stash tools…

watch others and learn

This is one of my tips too. Being of the older generation, I have a stash of old towels. I have cut them up and simply machined raw edges. I use one clean piece every day for face and hands and then in the evening a body wash down, clean the washroom with it and chuck in the dirty laundry bag. Nice clean new dry piece next day. About half a standard hand towel size.

When you have overloaded your rear axle you still won’t have everything you might need !
Just wing it and learn as you go - have a safe trip👍
