Don't own one yet.
Hi all,
Did a quick "google" and stumbled upon this site.
We have been contemplating getting a motor home for some time now and have finally decided to take the plunge.
We are in our early 50's, the kids are independent now and do their own thing, so now is our time to get out and about with our 1 year old dog.
Its a real minefield making a decision and would really appreciate some help.
We have a budget of £40k ish, and a small 2 berth vehicle would do for us, ideally 6 metres long for ease of parking etc.
Any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated!!
Cheers.

There is a buyers guide in the resources section. I suspect you have to subscribe to see it.

Hello and :welcome3: from Old Sodbury. :sun::sun::sun:
Hire a motorhome first, you will learn so much from that and put you on the right path to finding a suitable vehicle.
Good Luck.

Welcome to Fun and as Quackers has said, you might be better to hire first. Pay your subscription (it will be the best £15 you have spent) and then you can access the buyers guide as mentioned by David and Sally.

Get an idea of what you think you might want/need then hire a van to see if it is really what you want. Once you start getting out and about you might find that your needs/wants are different to what you first thought and by hiring before you buy, you lessen the risk of making an expensive mistake.

Most importantly have fun, come to some of the Fun rallies and ask as many questions as you want (once you have subscribed otherwise you are limited to 5 posts). There are no silly questions, just ones you don't yet know the answer to but someone on here will know for sure and will give you helpful answers. We were all beginners once 😺

Motorhoming since 2015......
Welcome from Ciren! (y)

Hire first as other Funsters have said....take your time, and don’t fret when you decide the layout you’ve chosen isn’t the right one for you! We had three ‘vans in our first four years of motorhoming, and we ‘may’ have got it right this time!;)

Hello, we bought a 2010 2 berth low profile Autocruise Stardream (well within your budget) in September last year after owning a long line of caravans. We have 3 small dogs and have just had the most wonderful 5 days in the Lake District. It had 20000 miles on the clock and had been well looked after. It has the usual fridge, cooker, gas hob, toilet, shower, TV etc, the lounge area turns either into one very large or two separate smaller beds. ours came with an Omnistor awning and for extra storage we have just added a Fiamma storage box on the back. If you are looking at a second hand MH make sure you check all the previous service history. There are so many different layouts and you hear so many different stories, both god and bad that basically to boils down to what you want and what you are going to be happy with. Good luck and let us know how you get on. Regards Bonly

Look at loads before you buy.
We bought our used Fiat Ducato Trigano Tribute 650, 4 years ago 2011 plate.
Felix is 6m long with fridge freezer, 3 burner hob with oven and grill, good size sink, toilet and shower, good amount of storage. Multiple ways to make up the bed from the lounge area. We’ve even got electric or gas hot water heaters and heating.
Suits us perfectly we’re outdoors folk but like a bit more so tent camping is long gone for us.
I’ve fitted solar to ours so can do offgrid camping for weeks from April to October if the sun comes out.
Perfect size, take a look if you can find one might suit you too
