Hi people

My Names Chris, Myself and partner in toe decided to do a wacky spur of the moment thing, and purchase a VW LT35-E van conversion back in October 2013. By May the following year, we both come to the conclusion that it was a good decision, so by June, the LT was shifted on and made way for a 1990 Foster & Day Mercedes-Benz Motorhome. :D

Now we couldn't possibly be without one!! (y)

Foster and Day, now there's a name from the past. The "Day" part of the partnership along with a charming younger man called Simon built our demountable in 2001 and made a superb job of it.

Thanks guys!
Yea Foster & Day vehicles seem to be a bit of a rare sight now days. We were adement we wanted the old skool Mercedes T1 Series platform, and looked around several, however after looking on completed listings on Fleebay, we saw a couple that had sold with a U shaped rear lounge. (Most we saw had the lounge in the centre, with kitchen & washroom at the rear). I wasnt keen on that as the visability wasnt as nice in the back, and didnt like the idea of having most the weight hanging over the back axle. So we just waited for the right one. Then this F & D unit (AKA Mertle) came up, so we practically had the guys arm off for it!

What was even better, was the guy was moving to the cost with his wife, so he was giving up the camping caper all together, so unbeknown to us, the MH came with Safari room, Grey Water Tank, Aquaroll, Hook up cables, Ramps, Tools, The lot! Along with that, the cab was fitted with new wings, door skins and resprayed 2 years prior, so in light of all that, it was a vehicle to good to miss.

Next job will be a little interior overhall, were gonna bring it up to date, with a new boiler, heating system and replace all the soft furnishings and coverings, so its going to be a busy (& expensive) year lol.

Chris
