I'm a newbie
Hi, not sure if I'm on the right forum or not? We've just returned from our 1st trip which went really well, but:Confused::Confused: I have a few questions - is here the right place? Thanks

OK here we go:
1. Is 'van' an acceptable abbreviation for motorhome?
2. When pitching should I aim to get the van level or should it be lower at one end e.g. For the waste water to feed away?
3. Our van doesn't yet have an aerial. We has a multi directional status ariel on our caravan but the previous van owner used a satellite dish and box. We have sky at home. What would you recommend?
4. Our dashboard speedometer and rev counter and mileometer comes on for a couple of seconds at random times and makes a whirring noise - at ideas what it might be? This can happen at any time whilst we're on site
Thanks

Can't help with 3 and 4 but:

1, Yes

2. Level is best in my opinion. It feels odd walking around the van when it's sloping.

Don't know that one, maybe I should have asked what the chassis is and the year, then someone can make a stab at it.

Can you monitor the starter battery voltage ? I wonder if the speedo has a micro in it and the battery is bordering on it's brownout voltage. I had something similar on a BMW bike caused by a corroded connector on the speedo.

Are you running anything when the whirring happens like water pump, blown heating kicking in or so forth?

Van should be designed for waste to run away if level, fridge may not work if the vehicle is not level
