Hello all,

New on the scene here, soon to be purchasing a converted campervan (Vauxhall Vivaro) and have been looking at insurance quotes etc but not sure what will be required.

The van is currently listed as a van with the DVLA. Does this mean that I am unable to get campervan/motorhome insurance?

Thank you in advance for the help!

Hi & welcome. No it doesn't but it would be better if you applied for change to the dvla . probably only get van with windows thogh & not mh or camper van regardless of how good the conversion is.

As said above you will only get change to van with windows but if the internal complies with the DVLA guidelines you should get a letter back from DVLA confirming internals are correct. This may be asked for from some insurance companies and in any case shouldn't have a problem with insurance.
The DVLA say in their guidelines that the description on the V5 is only to show what the van looks like and that it can still be used as a campervan.
It would be worth having a read of the DVLA guidelines as this will give a better understanding of what is required and what we are saying.
