Last January we spent a very pleasant few weeks in Spain for the first time. We were tempted to spend this coming January and February in Spain once more but have also been tempted by Portugal. In essence do any of the funsters on here have a view which of the two are better thinking of weather, aires, campsites and pets. There are only the two of us and the pooch.
Thank you in anticipation :)

There was another thread on the forum in a similar vein not that long ago so might be worth having a hunt round for it ... one thing to consider is the time ... Portugal is on the same timezone as the UK, whereas Spain is an +1 so if you stick to Portugal's local time you'll find the nights get darker sooner and shops etc close earlier!

Forget Portugal in Jan & Feb. It's proximity to the Atlantic Ocean means a shed load of wet weather at that time of the year. The Murcia region of Spain will be a lot drier and probably warmer too. Google it !

We have spent quite a few winters in Spain and always looked at the weather forecasts. I think that the south east of Spain (Murcia coast, Benidorm etc. ) has consistently been drier and warmer than other areas and certainly much warmer than Portugal, although October and March seem to be the rainy months. For the last 4 years we have played it safe and stayed in the Canaries for the winter.

... don't you find you get a bit too warm though ...
