I’ve posted this in tech/mech general, could’ve sworn that there was a wheels/tires section but obviously it’s just because I’ve read so much about them, like toilets.! Thanks to you tyre reviewers(camper jack et al) for inspiration, I know it gets boring like bogs sometimes but nothing is more important than that tiny few inches of rubber on the road. ( lost my lovely brother in law to a badly inflated tyre on an opposing van) .
Just had new boots fitted by Elite wheels. I wont duplicate reviews of that firm other than to say they are great ( speak to Charlie)and worth the run there , you can park in their slip road overnight to get first appointment in the morning.
Very pleased with the transformation, couldnt quite stretch to bfg all terrain that seem to be rising in price, so have these ‘Davantis’ fitted which have a less blocky tread ( the blocks kind of join up, sure theres a technical term) and a not quite as rugged but will suit my type of use. I’ve previously had camper tyres , van tyres ( pretty good actually lasted 6 years) and some toyos. All had their downs/ups.
Ihave done 400 miles on them and pleased so far.

Initial answers to questions:-
They dont effect ( affect? Never know) the mpg that I’ve noticed but I have been ‘eco’ driving lately.
Speedo no change as far as I can tell by satnav speedo.
No more ducato/boxer crash bang over potholes, now its more thump crump.
They dont rub anywhere
They are approximately one and a half million times better on wet grass.
Havent tried wet roads
Havent tried mud
Havent tried sand
No sound issue , if anything its more ‘hummy’ but who hears anything in a moho anyway compared to a car.
Overall first impressions very pleased do far will post a further review in six months so if the all -terrain naysayers can hang fire till then, I’ll let you know.. oh, they look great I think but other half doesnt see it… before and after photos

I like the tyres. but, white writing out 🙈🙈. Bit Yankee Doodle Dandy for me. Did the fitter give you the choice?

Ha yes Landy Andy , sorry should have name checked you too. Re choice of white writing you better pm me on that one!!! Suits me because I was showing off to my son in Aus who has a ‘geezer’ Raptor

Would you be able to provide an indication of the cost for the 4 tyres? And also for 4 wheels?

Are the tyres and wheels exactly the same size as the ones replaced?

15" or 16" wheels?

Thanks! (y)

And the grass thing……..never in the history of any vehicle I have driven as there been a poorer example. ;)

Never been a Chav……but I’m loving them. (y)
Ta Sapper, As for chavs, I am from a place called Hailsham in Sussex. Honestly, No offence Hailshamites but you can take the boy out of Hailsham …. Etc etc!

Sorry MikeBeaches
The obvious question I didnt cover, around 1100 depending on discounts offers etc knew I’d forget something. Replaced 15inch wheels with 16 inch. Tyres fir accordingly.
Includes vat balancing/fitting and little black stud cover things.

What size?!

I have 245 75 r16

Only when running downhill on smooth tarmac do I hear them rumble.

I have Toyo open countrys

Think I may be reverting to my first car with my tastes.….1969 Triumph Herald 13/60……remember those rubber extenders for the flick switches? I even replaced the steering wheel with a sporty one….. :ROFLMAO:

Guess that is due to their humble delivery van heritage, I dont ‘off road’ or anything remotely like that so probably wont be ‘mud testing’ anytime soon…damp grass is about it.
I guess from your profile name you’ve driven some meaty stuff, landys etc,

Appreciate the info thanks! Think I found them on the website now. (y)

Any issues with road/tyre noise?
Good question Winger, nothing yet it all sounds the same, depends on your van and its set up I guess but definitely no noticeable difference which you may notice in a car. Sorry I cant be more helpful there, I did notice on that crappr western bit of the M25 where the road has tar separ

I painted a starsky and hutch stripe on my vauxhall viva. Household gloss, priceless

Hi Jamesh,
Funny you should ask but only yesterday I was thinking I should do an update on the tires. I’ve been absolutely over the moon so far and I deliberately took them out for a spin during the recent rainy weather just to see if there is any difference in them. I can’t say I’m a professional test driver or anything but I think they have been a definitely a different drive from the old van tires and really smooth out some of the bumps. The tread is not as pronounced as those on the BFG all terrains ( I hardly go off road just slippy grass)the question I get asked quite a lot is (from admirers of the wheels) do they make a lot of noise. The answer is absolutely not I can’t hear a single different tone but I always maintain it’s just because they’re fixed to a van so there’s no decent acoustics to go on as as if you had fitted them to a Plush 4x4 or something. So far I really recommend them but I am shortly due to take a long run down to France and Spain so I’ll update you when I come back from there shortly. Yes, the white lettering is not to everybody’s taste and the name is a bit odd but of course you can have that on the inside if you wish. As I said before great service and good value from elite tires

Fully endorse uzsnowdrop comments on these tyres. I needed a set of 3pmsf rated tyres for a late autumn/early winter trip to the alps and was recommended these by a colleague who has them on his 4x4.

Had a set fitted last week, four 225/75r16 115/112s. Price fitted was £540.

What a difference they make to the Ducato ride, they take away a lot of the crashing and banging and make driving less tiresome with no discernible increase in road noise. Currently running at 50psi front and 55psi rear and will tinker with pressures to fine tune.

All in all, really pleased and will soon try on grass as I'm at a CL in the Yorkshire Dales this weekend and it's due to rain😀

They look great.
Can I ask what do you do for a spare?
... And will a 16" wheel/tyre fit in your spare wheel holder under the rear?

Pete

Thanks for that, just to clarify, you had 15" wheels originally, did you just get a standard 16" steel wheel and standard tyre to fit into the spare cradle?

Pete
