Pretty much got the hang of it now!
Hi There

Does anyone know what the new VED rates will be for older motorhomes as from 1/4/21? I currently am in the £270 per annum as my engine is 2.7 litres first registered in 2003 but want to know what it will go up by or to in April. I can't seem to find any info. Now April 1st hmmmm that rings a bell :cautious:!!

Cheers

Paul

Hi Stealaway.
My MH is SORNed atm. At the current rate of £270 per annum, this equals £22.50 per month. If it is going up by more than £22.50, it may well be worth taxing it now rather than as from April 1st. Of course, it does mean paying the new rate as from 1st March 2022 rather than 1/4/22 but that may mean I miss any new VED increase as from 1/4/22 so I might just remain ahead of any increases!
Just trying to recoup some pennies spent on the extortionate price of Truma spares I recently purchased!😱.
Cheers

It all got very confusing between August 2019 and March 12th 2020 with proposed changes and U turns. I have been looking into this as it particularity affected new vans and we just bought one. For a short period new vn attracted the premium (over £40,000) VED which cost nearly £500 for the first 5 years plus over £2000 for first registraion.

As far as I can tell it will be £270 from April. As per here. *I may be wrong!

Anyone know current tax rates for newer motorhomes registered after 2017?

The rates changed last year, then it was rescinded, is it reinstated or frozen?

I had made the assumption that it would be 200 quid ish but am confused currently after trying to work out if it may be more like 500?

£280 for under 3500KG £170 for over 3500KG

There are some exceptions for certain 2017 - 2020 vehicles. It's as clear as mud....

What's £5 between friends.😉 I think/thought £165 was pre April 2021- £170 post April 2021. I was ignoring the not over 1549cc . How any people drove motor homes powered by less than 1549cc???
