So, in this kid like state, I’m bound to miss something.. apart from recording the handover (great tip from you guys 👍🏼) what should I ask, look at, do, buy, sign, remove, remember when I pick up the new orange baby? Help Me team! Thank you.. 🙏🏼

Not sure how close you are to the dealer but I would always recommend stopping for a couple of nights close by, this gives you time to test everything works properly and make sure you understand how to operate all the controls. There is so much to take in at handover and even new vans can malfunction. Brilliant colour 👍

I'm in exactly the same position. Not had a motorhome since 2007, and we really can't wait to collect week after next.

We are driving her straight to have some stuff fitted so staying a night in her right away. Dealer tells me they normally let them go out drained and gasless. I've arranged for one gas bottle and for her water to be filled.
Other than that my wife and I are being dropped off at the pickup (100+ miles from home). We have a pile of essentials to get us through the first night. Mainly bedding etc.

My main concern is making sure everything works - taking her back to the dealer for some obvious problem would be a pain.
Back in 2005 I had a major issue with a brand new Autotrail Scout. The shower never worked right from new. The dealer thought I was stupid, and the final time I took it back to them I insisted they try having an actual shower. I picked her up and they said there was no fault found, but I insisted they gave the me install manual for the shower. When I got her home I found the hot/cold were swapped on the input to the shower. It's not me that was stupid after all. A firm letter to Autotrail cc’ed the Dealer resulted in ZERO responses. So, for me, never an Autotrail again, and never from that same dealer.

Live and learn.

Take your time with handover and pre arrange breakdown cover before or take their offer.
Enjoy

I assume (but have not looked into it yet) that a brand new Fiat comes with Fiat breakdown and recovery? Blimey, somehing else I need to think to ask the dealer. Just so much stuff to remember.

Check it over for damage before driving it away. I once picked up a brand new vehicle, drove 5 miles down the road to fill it up and found a dent on the rear wheel arch next to the fuel filler, that side was parked up against the wall when I picked it up. The Tunbridge Wells Ford dealership were not too good at resolving this!

When we collected the current motorhome we swapped from the one we were trading in on there forecourt so we thought we had everything we needed .
I thought I asked all the relevant questions before driving off. It wasn’t until we were home, a two hours drive, that I couldn’t find the V5. I called the dealer to see if I had left it on the desk after we had filed in the change of ownership.
It was a good job I called them because we had driven home without the road tax. They had taken the V5 to sort out the road tax but didn’t get it done.
We weren’t planning to go away for a week so they had time to sort it out for us.

If you want the 5 year extended warranty you have to do it within days of first registration with a Fiat Professional Garage.
What he said ^^^^^^^^ needs to be registered within 15 days on the fiat assist system to extend the warranty to 5 years.

Make a list of questions etc.
Take your time, sit in the van and have a good think of anything else you might have not put on the list.
Check everything...twice.

Anyone happen to know the rough cost of extending?

Check the body panels for any damage, take your time, check for any distortion. Get a ladder and check the roof. Make sure everything is properly fitted and sealed. My reason for doing this are the last 3 vehicles I've bought have all been brand new, a Crafter delivered with a dent on the roof and a bend on one of the side panels. A VW Up that had been cleaned by someone with a gritty rag. I walked around the large VW showroom with the dealer and every new car in there had paint damage. A Caddy that looked like someone had sat on the bonnet. All three vehicles were rectified before I accepted then.

Once you've gone over the outside check the inside. Fit and finish of everything. Turn the cushions over and check for damage, everything. Then let the stealer do his handover. Make sure everything on vehicle works, all the vehicle stuff and all the camper stuff.

It's far easier to get stuff rectified at the dealer than it is to take it away and find out later. The dealer will know you're excited about the new van and will happily pass on defects you would have spotted normally.

Make sure all the doors line up & close correctly- particularly the sliding door. It should close easily, & not need a slam at all! Ours needed adjustment & had to go to the Fiat main dealer who were useless! My husband took it off & adjusted it himself in the end! Also, on another van, we didn’t let the heating run & warm up, & didn’t test it on gas & electric - also took ages to sort out afterwards!

Enjoy, don't stress... any issues are fixable.

Best advice I received is spend the night at the nearest site... so anything you need reminding of, snags that need a quick fix can be done.

Make sure you ask them to ensure the leisure battery is charged up, and pre advise them that you will be recording the hand over as you have a memory like a sieve‘ that way they will probably be more inclined to to a proper handover and not a cursory whip round the cupboards etc.
