Actually it is worse than that......

Fiat Mirror : £290.00
Labour :£82.00
VAT: £74.00
Total : a ridiculous £447!!!!
Scandalous!!! Small wonder insurance premiums are sky high with charges like that. It's a good job someone else is picking up the tab. Were that not the case I'd have told them where to stick their nigh on £100 labour charge and fitted it myself. At least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask.

Glad to hear it's all sorted satisfactorily and all involved are ok and no one was hurt.

Alan used to drive for Brakes and they had 5 cameras - in the cab filming the driver, forward facing, rear facing at the back and down both sides. They constantly monitored the footage to make sure drivers were driving safely.

We insisted our daughter use a dash cam as she does an 80 mile round trip to work and once had a crate come off the back of a truck and damage her car, of course the truck drove on in ignorance and she had to claim on her own insurance.

Similar thing happened to us around lake Como when a Fiat came round the bend on the wrong side of the road and "clipped us" Damaged our wing mirror too but smashed his own car, glass and bits all over the place, not a scratch on ours apart from mirror.
Strong stuff these Hymers. Long live dash cams, all recorded.

So new mirror fitted at the haulage company's cost.

To be fair to the company, they have not ducked the issue or quibbled.

The police are going to prosecute the driver.

So hopefully this saga for us is at an end and we are alive and healthy to tell the tale.

To celebrate we are off to the Cotswolds in The Van with No Name for its second outing - hopefully less stressful than the first!
