Just had service, hab service and mot done together along with road tax and insurance due at end of month, so enough expense I think.
However, mot had an advisory of tyres cracked. They are 7 years old according to date stamp on tyres but motorhome only been registered 6 years. Only 19000 miles, lots of tread left but do you think they should be replaced now or wait a bit longer as it's only on the advisory. Would you change the spare? It's underslung, never been used but presume 7 years old too.
Thanks

If you're a bit short at the moment do 2 front 1st and keep best 2 old ones. Then replace as soon as possible financially permitting.

Appreciate you've had a bit of expense to cover recently, but the peace of mind of 5 brand new tyres, could prove to be the best £600 you've spent in a long time.

Yes that cash needs to be paid out up front, but if you get another 7 years out of them, it works out at less than £100 a year.

I'd definitely get them changed, including the spare.

If you do get a blow out, the resultant damage to the van (just caused by the rubber flying off as opposed to you crashing) can be very expensive...

I think you may be right, I was thinking of not changing the spare as it has had no weight on it at all and obviously tread as new, probably another shortcut I should avoid and just buy the 5. Will tyre fitter remove spare tyre from underneath or would it be expected to have it out for them to change?

Thanks

I'm sure I've read on the forum somewhere to have metal valves? Are these standard on motorhomes or do you have to ask to have these fitted?

Thanks

Steel valves are more secure than the rubber type but if you want them you should order them prior to visiting the tyre dealer as many will not have them in stock and try to fob you off with HD rubber ones they are about £5 each for a good make , not Chinese ones.

Thanks for all of the advice. I've decided to change all 5 tyres with like for like Continental Vanco camper tyres.
They are for sale as a 'web special' price from Halfords autocentres @ £112.99 so £564.95 for 5. Best price I've seen. Booked in for first thing next Wednesday morning.
Thanks again

Tyres all done, bit of a delay as tyres only arrived at Halfords today instead of yesterday. Date stamped 30/17, bit of a result, only 4weeks old
