Just caught up with this thread, sorry to hear you lost another one and that mum wasnt in fine form for a while, (mind you getting used to having 4 babies would be stressful for the first time). Glad things are getting better now, could the little one of been the runt of the litter if so it will catch up eventually.

Happy New Year to you all

The pups are continuing to improve and fingers crossed will be ok. Its like SCBU here! Maeve is much better too and managing to eat (she nearly ate my hand earlier when I gave her some steamed chicken!)

All have gained some wieight today and long may it continue.

Happy New Year to all when it comes in.

Hi everyone

Today's update is positive - after a bit of a worry about the little one yesterday evening when he appeared to be very lethargic, he has now started to show a marked weight gain at every weigh in. The other two - now named Jack and Victor - have continued to gain weight and its no wonder as they are like guided missiles to Maeve!

Maeve is now cheerful and eating well. She has been around the house today checking on things and making sure that she keeps up with what we are doing. She is less anxious about being with them all the time and I think knows that they are safe and are not going to wander off anywhere while she is out of their room.

These are the photos from this morning and as you can see the two big ones are like bookends!

Thanks again to everyone for your good wishes.

Regards

Kath & Howie

Weigh in

Just had a weight check on all the pups

The smallest has gained 9 grams in 7 hours and is now 137 grams
The next one (Victor or dopey to his pals!) is now 277 grams
The biggest one (Jack or the bully to his pals) is now 305 grams

All their weight gain apart from the smallest one is as expected and his is on a sharp rise which is great and long may it continue.

regards

They are exceedingly cute from this distance!

However, daughters Jack Russell had a litter earlier this year and muggins here got to give the little darlings - in a strong solid plastic box well lined with newspaper I stress - a lift to the vets in my C4.

After about a week with all 4 doors and the tailgate open on the drive plus a can of Oust, I had got rid of enough of the smell of Sssssssssshhh to enable me to go in it again without heaving. Took weeks more to completely get rid.
Disgusting.

And I'm the one who used to shout at Pete for calling all puppies 'Sssssssssssshhh Machines' and used to tell him they were cute ......

Monday's update

Again thanks to all for good wishes and positive vibes.

All the puppies are gaining weight and although the littlest one is half the size of his litter mates he is continuing to grow at the required rate.

Maeve has been downstairs with us today and is happy to spend some time away from them. She is busy looking for places to hide them! She has lost so much weight and looks as if she is wearing a coat that is 3 times too big for her! She is tucking into chicken and various other treats with no ill effects.

Rory is curious about what is going on in the bedroom but has not made any attempt to get in there - mainly because he gets a few barks from Maeve that must mean keep away.

I havent taken any photos of them today as have been busy with lots of things but will get some later on tonight. I did the night shift last night and its Howie's turn tonight - was up every hour just to make sure they were ok and encourage the smallest one to feed more often than the others.

We still have not got a name for the littlest one and are busy thinking of what to call him.

Will post the photos when I take them later on.

Kind regards

Kath & Howie

Thanks Kath. Appreciate your updates. Re hiding the pups, my own dog some years ago kept moving her puppies to the bottom of my wardrobe... she never stopped doing it no matter how many times I carried them out and back to their little cosy box. I tired before she di. ::bigsmile:

Thanks Joy, Maeve came up on the bed for a little while last night and I wondered if she would bring the pups with her but she decided that she wanted a rest from them!

One week old today!

Thanks everyone for your enquiries and sorry I did not post any pics yesterday. I intended to take some pictures last night but never got around to it.

The pups continue to grow at a great rate. Jack and Victor and putting on lots of beef every hour and the nameless one is continuing to grow too. He is still only half the size of the others but of course as he is getting bigger his percentage of weight gain is growning too.

Howie had the night shift last night and I dont know what they were all doing up there in the bedroom but I guess feeding as they had all grown overnight!

Maeve is a great little mother and has them all sorted out now. She is very attentive but also is not afraid to leave them and come with us for a while.

The littlest one is still nameless - some thoughts tonight - me saying Bert and Howie saying Maximus!

Off upstairs now with the camera so will post pictures soon.

Here are the pictures. They were all asleep and I didnt want to handle them and wake them up! The one on the top right is Jack, the one in the middle left is Victor and the one at the bottom right is the nameless one!

Having looked at the suggested sites for names associated with small we are still trying to come up with one!

Update

Hi everyone

Sorry for not updating you all on the puppies progress but have been busy with work, home and pups over the past few days!

They are all doing well and we went to the vet this afternoon on a planned visit for him to check over Maeve and the pups. He was astounded with the size of Jack and Victor and said that he expected the pups to be the size of the nameless one! He is doing fine although still nameless! He is growing apace and should have made up to the right size by 8 weeks. All are doing the usual puppy things and Maeve is a great little mother.

Here are some photo's taken this afternoon including one of her giving them a good wash!

Kind regards

Kath & Howie
