Hello, we are dave and wifey and we are thinking of buying a motorhome or an rv but don't really know much about them.

I hope you won't mind but we'll have one or two (and the rest) questions to ask!

Hi Guys, welcome to MotorHomeFun. You are the first members that have joined who do not have a motorhome so there will be a rush to get you converted :Smile: Motorhomes are like religion to a lot of people so there is always someone trying to convert you to there way of thinking:winky: Everyone is convinced that because there motorhome is the best for them it will be the best for you, but only you can know that, and plenty make a mistake by rushing into buying there first MH and then realising its not for them and then having the hassle of changing it and probably losing money as well

Have you seen any motorhomes you like the look of, either on the road or at a dealers? How many people will be touring? For how long at one time, just weekends, or for whole winters or summers, what driving licences do you hold, How much are you able to spend? Have you got off street parking? See it looks like we've got the questions for you:roflmto: but you need to know the answers to these before you commit to the big investment that is a motorhome, happy hunting, and welcome again, please feel free to ask any questions you like, look around the forums and find the most suitable one for your question and just ask away::bigsmile:

welcome

go to a large motorhome show or a large dealer so you can narrow down the motorhome needs that you have .....ie size, age, layout

we found that when we started looking there were so many choices we found it a bit bewildering

so we went to a big show

trapsed round for hours

we did not see the van we wanted but we knew what we did not want

it takes time to narrow down to a specific type of van

but when we did decide on the 747 we then scourered the country, found all available and chose/negotiated the best deal and hey presto done

it takes quite a bit of homework i would say, especially if you are as fussy as us:whatthe:

Hi DandY
Welcome home ::bigsmile:
This is the beginning of an exiting journey for you. Most of us on here have made the mistakes ourselves or know of others that have, so it is not that we are knowledgeable, it is just that we have learned the hard way. There is no such thing as a "one size fits all" motorhome, they do end up being a very personal purchase, much like a house.... As said previously, do all your homework and then go and view a number of vehicles, rule nothing in or out and slowly narrow down your list and STICK to it ::bigsmile: It is very easy to get talked into something that you do not want or need by sales people etc so do take care, but most of all enjoy it ::bigsmile:
