New SD card

Just bought a new 16gb SD card to replace a smaller one,2GB, in my phone.
When I get the new one can I just copy the contents across from the old one to the new as it has some of my apps on it? Or is there some mystical process I have to go through to transfer the information.

You'd think it would be that simple, and it might be.

However, if not, you may need to back your phone up using its computer link software with the old card then restore it all with the new card inserted.
