New cylinder delivered yesterday. Upon checking it over, pressed the safety valve and I was surprised to get air under pressure released. Is this normal and should I "de-pressurize" it before its first fill?

I think it's presurised for testing and shipment to protect the float valve from damage. When you fill it the first time it will only accept about half fill oh gas.
Perfectly normal just fill it and use it.

Oh you Silly Billy cyberyacht... are you not aware that you wasted your money??? You will not be able to fill it ... ALL Autogas pumps have been removed and there is nowhere left for us moho'ers to fill up wi gas.!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Well at least that's what some doubters would make you believe.!!!

This is normal when I got my safe fill cylinder they let the pressure out then filled it to about 70 percent I think on the first fill
