New Registration where's the fun gone?

Being a child of the 60's summer holiday journeys meant DIY games and MW radio entertainment, a "highlight" of the holidays
was 1st August new registrations.
Changes mean there are now 2 new registration dates but as of 19th March I have only seen 3 "23" plate vehicles.
Ignoring reason why, cost of living crisis, etc, etc.

How many 23 plate cars have you seen?

going through Watford and Hemel Hempstead the garages have no "Get your NEW car" advertising and no "23" cars on forecourt.

I’ve seen it driving around Manchester and Cheshire for 3-4 years like that.

I like it here, the plates are ageless and are reasonably customisable with the confines of availability, my user name is actually my old MH Reg : RO for Rosenheim (nearest town and a must have) BY (Chosen by us) and 2008 ( also chosen by us).
No year marker and transferable between vehicles, I could have my initials of RR but everyone seems to have them .................

It was just a way of showing off (look at me and my NEW car!!!). I'm glad it's less obvious now but wish they'd scrap the whole thing. Numberplates don't need to relate to age. You can look that up on the DVLA websit if you need to know.

I never thought about the date of my new cars or motorhome, I just bought them when I needed them and when they were a good deal. Why wait...it will be old in 6 months.

There is no reference to date on French plates, so you can happily drive around in your 5 year old car without the pressure that you have to change the car, just becouse somebody might think you are a skinflint.

No, it is obligatory for new car owners to park them in a carpark for a day just to run them in and make them fit in with the rest of the cars.

New cars used to be a privilege that people worked hard to achieve now they are just borrowed and rented and renewed every few years
The only beneficiary are the finance companies
And those who buy at 2 years old and run them until they die
