Being a child of the 60's summer holiday journeys meant DIY games and MW radio entertainment, a "highlight" of the holidays
was 1st August new registrations.
Changes mean there are now 2 new registration dates but as of 19th March I have only seen 3 "23" plate vehicles.
Ignoring reason why, cost of living crisis, etc, etc.

How many 23 plate cars have you seen?

It did used to be a highlight of the summer holidays spotting new cars. I wondered if it was just me getting older and grumpier that I don't spot them anymore. I only realised that 23s were out when I saw a row of half a dozen of them on a BMW site last Friday. It can now be a couple of months into the new plate when I start noticing them.

going through Watford and Hemel Hempstead the garages have no "Get your NEW car" advertising and no "23" cars on forecourt.

I like it here, the plates are ageless and are reasonably customisable with the confines of availability, my user name is actually my old MH Reg : RO for Rosenheim (nearest town and a must have) BY (Chosen by us) and 2008 ( also chosen by us).
No year marker and transferable between vehicles, I could have my initials of RR but everyone seems to have them .................

19 month year 18000 miles UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Germany, Italy. Campsites and off Grid.
It was just a way of showing off (look at me and my NEW car!!!). I'm glad it's less obvious now but wish they'd scrap the whole thing. Numberplates don't need to relate to age. You can look that up on the DVLA websit if you need to know.

I never thought about the date of my new cars or motorhome, I just bought them when I needed them and when they were a good deal. Why wait...it will be old in 6 months.

There is no reference to date on French plates, so you can happily drive around in your 5 year old car without the pressure that you have to change the car, just becouse somebody might think you are a skinflint.

(Oh i dream of having a 5 year old car, ours is 18 this year)
I think the French build them at least 5 years old don´t they? 🤔

Still dropping clangers and making it up as I go along
New cars used to be a privilege that people worked hard to achieve now they are just borrowed and rented and renewed every few years
The only beneficiary are the finance companies
And those who buy at 2 years old and run them until they die

Long time
We were commenting on this the other day.
We have a competition between the 2 of us, Nick was first to see a ’23 motorbike!
Not seen many ‘23 vehicles at all.

Anyone who cares what others think about the age of their car deserves to be skint, and you can guarantee will be the least interesting person in the pub. :D

I’m fed up with changing things, I fully intend to keep my existing phone till it dies, likewise my car and my camper

if someone thinks less of me because I have an ‘old’ anything in a few years time it will save me the bother of my first impression test, where much to Lyn‘s annoyance I assume someone is a tosser until they prove me wrong

My “latest” motorbike is 43 years old so I reckon it is just about run-in by now!
