I'd like to think I am savvy enough to spot this and only log on using the paypal home page rather than a link buy any of us can make an error especially when we are in ahurry.

Same here, copied it to PayPal. Heard nothing from them.

I often get them, from various 'organisations' but even if they look genuine I always log-in in the normal way and never ever through a link.

Obviously yours was on a slow boat from Nigeria Lenny looking at the date on it!

Last week we got the Amazon scam and HSBC scam telling us our refund needs paying into our bank accounts, Yeah right.
These bastards are trying everything. Delete immediately.
Phil

Unless it is someone I know I delete all emails unread & usually as soon as they pop up.

I think this is a general problem. I have alerted various organisations to clear scams purporting to relate to their businesses and have never had any follow-up. I continue to alert them but you do wonder if it's worth the effort!

I have had a few thank you responses from Paypal & ebay when forwarding scams to them :)

True - if using a mouse, hover over any link [without clicking] and you'll see the link is not Paypal / Amazon or whatever, as others have said - login via normal website if concerned to check. I get these at least everal times per day - just delete immediately

Had a call on my work phone this very morning from a very well spoken gent trying to tell me the "mobile online account" had been hacked and I needed to give him my login details so he could "reset security"!
I politely replied the company doesn't use online management for individual phone accounts as it was a block contract but he was insistent my details were needed to do the reset and the security of the phone was corrupted and couldn't be trusted until this had been done. I complied and gave him the account name, the last bit '........ NHS Trust' somehow terminated the call abruptly!! :roflmto:

What do you think ... is this one a scam or genuine  ... should I do it because I want to 'avoid unwanted things'?

I had that one last week l logged in to paypal and no messages so I just assumed scam and deleted it
No doubt a scam for me.
How do PayPal say they’ll contact you? How do they say the email will look? For example, who will it be written to? will it be by an account nickname or other?
Some companies will say they never email you, some say if they do it’ll be just to alert you to look for an alert at their site, etc.

I received one of these as I was reading your post! I forward all Paypal scams to 'spoof@paypal.com'. The other Co's have spoof addresses too.
Forgot to mention most spoof reports I do are acknowledged. Or are we hoping for their analysis?

Have you lot been on a load of dodgy sites, I rarely get such stuff. :gum:

If I receive any email from Paypal or any bank etc, that I do have accounts with, I delete it then login to my account and look for messages or weird transactions - I NEVER respond to unsolicitied emails - it just tells them the email is live. Banks, I know, will never ask for any information via email or phone so 'if in doubt - it's a scam' (y)

You don't need to do anything because apparently your account's has only been closed temporary.
:ROFLMAO::LOL:.
