We’re new to motorhome/van life having retired in 2020 and making the decision to give it a go. On paper it’s attractive, you sleep in the same bed every night, have your own loo and shower and can live in comfort even when it lashing it down outside.
But, it’s so complicated compared to camping in a tent! Alas, 2020 may not have been the best year to start but we are where we are.
So far we have had a an interesting learning curve what with the heating failure tracked down to a loose microswitch saying window open so do not operate. All well and good but the window was shut; a quick check on fasteners found a stripped thread that should have been holding the switch in the correct position. This is currently bypassed with a piece wire we found on the cl site we were staying at.
We have updated the gas system to a twin 11kg Gaslow system - an easy update. Fitting system is much easier than trying to find a fuel station selling lpg. Second update was to fit a SOG filter system for the loo. Buying the kit was a nightmare which took about two months. Apparently, they have been swept off their feet with the current demands.
Now we just want to be able to use it, especially in more van friendly countries over the channel!
