Hi

we are looking for insurance for our first motorhome, and the range in the prices is mind blowing.

One company coming in cheaper than others is called Advance Insurance, has anybody used or heard anything about them?

Also, any suggestions for companies that may give a good price for a first time motorhome insurer, without any motorhome no claims bonus, but 9+ years car no claims, would be very welcome, as prices seem to be considerably higher than expected.

Thanks

Safeguard mirrored my car no claims when I took out motorhomes insurance.

Another vote for Safeguard.
They do seem to be very flexible with using car no claims bonuses and the cover is very comprehensive.
Comfort insurance is another very popular company who have a good reputation.

I've no complaints about Comfort, but I guess you only find out when you have to claim. Their price was certainly reasonable and it covers long trips abroad as well as European breakdown.

Our first motorhome was insured through the Camping and Caravanning club.
Less than £250 fully comp for a new van worth £58k with mirrored ncb.
Insurance Factory are pretty reasonable too. Might be worth a try?

Thanks for the replies, they have given me some companies that haven’t come up in the search sites to look into.

Comfort are very good and operate a net policy, they don't use no claims system just give you their best price.

I have been with comfort for years, but always check their renewal price against the competition. I have made a claim which was dealt with, without problem.
Watch out for what is covered, some of the cheaper ones are just car type insurance, you're legally covered but may have problems with a 'motorhome' related claim.

We also went with the C&CC on our first Motorhome. I was pleasantly surprised. They mirrored my 9+ years NCB and came up with a premium that was less than my car. They have stayed competitive ever since, with a little bit of nudging from time to time...
