New second hand mh ready for its first trip and I see the battery is eight years old so going to treat her to a new one.
Can anybody recommend a decent one please?
Not looking for Asda price batteries 😉

It might depend on what the rest of your system can charge and what size will fit but a general rule of thumb is the heavier the better and the price gives you a bit of a pointer as well in my view.

Unless you go LiFePO4 of course

If you’re going to spend most of your time on site’s keep your 8 year old and see how it performs,
But if you’re intending staying off grid most of the time go lithium you might need to upgrade some control gear, charger, solar etc,
But there worth every penny.
Lot’s of information on U Tube. Good luck with your new Moho.🚐🚐

Until you get your charger sorted out (as per your previous thread) there is absolutely zero point in you getting a new battery. It won't solve a single one of your problems. You may as well stick 500 AA Duracells in there for all the good it will do you. You have zero way of recharging the battery right now, so it will die in a weekend and you'll be back to square one.
Use the money you would spend on a battery to either repair or replace your onboard charger first, then look at replacing the battery second.

Unless I'm missing some posts rubyoptucs the op doesn't mention anything about his charger he is just worried that an 8 year old battery will be cream crackered personally id go with keep it and save your hard earned if your usually on hook up and at least try it at home for a couple of days if your planning on being mostly off grid

See OP's other current thread.

I would go with the advice given by Grummyb and try it first.

And if it does turn out to be dead, then, until you have done a lot more homework, simply replace it with the same as now. Battery technology is somewhat more complex than it seems.

The OP does not have a functioning charger in his van. He is currently plugged in and his battery is showing 10.8v. He IS trying it and it won't work as his charger is dead, or at the very least, not currently functioning. He needs to sort the charger out before anything else as without that any other "fix" is going to give him 12v for a weekend and then he'll be right back where he is now.

Having two three threads about the one problem does not help. I wondered how you knew the charger was not working.
Yes, it is a bit confusing I agree!

Having given this thread some more thought, I think we should concentrate on answering the question which was asked. There is no poing in talking about chargers here. The OP wants advice for a new battery, for whatever reasons. We should help.

In the absence of any more details, my advise for a quick solution is to suggest that the battery is replaced with one using the same chemistry as the original and of a similar capacity.

Battery - Trade Card at Halfords and get a Yuasa B or A rated leisure battery.
But you could also buy a battery charger and plug it in one of your onboard 240V sockets to keep battery charged and turn off the duff onboard charger?
