Someone (sorry cannot find post) on here posted a link for some cheap flexible led strip lights. Well I pushed the boat out on Monday spent £6.99 and removed the weird Burstner uplighter. Well please with the results.

Looks good but a word of warning, the cheap led strings are generally seconds and they start failing after a couple of years. I put a small strip in our van to like up a gloomy area and used the same ones for our main lighting in the conservatory at home. Three of the LEDs in the strip in the van have gone intermittent and the ones at home appear to be quite a bit dimmer than when first fitted. I'm going to replace them with better quality ones.

If mine outlive me they can drape 'em round me casket then I really will have seen the light...sort of. Hallelujah brother-not allu a Akbar or whatever(can be bothered googling that!) Have had a really cheapo set(only 30 measlys) for the last 7 years. Still blindingly bright as the day I forked out £2.50 for them!! Long live Chinese cheapos for without them we'd have precious little at todays prices.

Went for the SMD 3528 which uses the least power, 4.8w per metre and they're defo bright enough.

7 years campers before that
rs always seem exspensive they are prefered suppliers for many councils and gov bodies hence the prices my mate is on the council and could find an item exactly the same as he wanted from rs for under a quarter of the price but wasnt allowed as the company wasnt approved and we wonder where our money goes

since 2006 ( I think ! )
Bottom line.. Buy the cheapo ones.. they last a couple of years or so, buy some more and replace.
I do not have a problem with that at all.. The cost of the expensive ones is so high I will have to have them for about 16 years before I am fiscally worse off !

I'm looking at replacing mine with 20 quid banded ones rather than 6 quid unbranded, shouldn't break the bank.

Very true.. I did the whole van ( canna remember how many, something like 14 strip lights and 8 ordinary ones ) for £20 .. That was two years ago.
Have one strip that occasionally flickers ( pee poor regulation would be my guess ) but happy with that..
Doing them all from a more reputable source would have been over £200 !

I have them in the conservatory and under all the kitchen cupboards, they appear a lot dimmer than when fitted 2 years ago and the odd LED has died.

I likes it, didn't think about a 1st fix, maybe should've. :)
Wellllllllllll, they've been up a few hours now and we think warm white instead of cool white may be better/nicer.
Thinking I might put this strip in the bathroom, don't want to waste £3.49 do I?:LOL::LOL:

A word of advice :)

Check the voltage, when it says 12v it means 12v not any more as would be supplied by the vehicle.

Fit a voltage stabiliser as per here:
The LEDs will last longer and not overheat.

To be honest @KeithMak these were just a test. All my other led's are 8v-30v, when I decide exactly what we want where, the new ones will be the same (y)
