Are the yanks finally giving up on gas guzzling RVs ?

Somehow I doubt it, but this latest offering from Winnebago is a step in the right direction..

WHAT IS IT? A Class C motor home built on the Dodge Sprinter chassis and cab.

HOW MUCH? Base price $93,873; $103,841 as tested with options including a diesel-powered generator, awning, leather upholstery and rear-view monitor.

WHAT MAKES IT RUN? 3-liter turbocharged Mercedes-Benz diesel V-6; 5-speed automatic transmission.

no slides, short, narrow and a 'small' deisel engine.
they could always use it as a toad.

could be a way for winnibago to make headway into europe though:winky:

remember, a few years ago there were no DODGE or CADILLAC badged cars here.

The Winnebago View you've got featured here is now available in numerous forms courstesy of other US manufacturers...all using the same Mercedes 3lt diesel matched with the Sprinter/Freightliner chassis. These manufacturers all have their own version of this more gas-efficient rv:

Coachmen Prism
Coachmen Freelander
Monaco Covina
Dutchmen Dorado
Chateau Citation
Four Winds Siesta
Fleetwood Pulse
Fleetwood Icon
Holiday Rambler Traveler
Jayco Precept
Forest River Solera (Warren Buffett's Bershire Hathaway-owned subsidiary)
Itasca Navion (same as the Winnie View)

The latest release amongst them all is the Winnebago View, which has IMHO the best floorplan layout. But I'm not sure I see the value in the extra $30,000 asking price over the others listed above.

I'm hoping to to get some feedback from you savvy Poms on the Coachmen Prism. Have got a separate thread running under the American RV heading in this forum. Am hoping you salty and seasoned campaigners will be able to point out my folly (or kudos) in bringing one of them into the UK from the US.

Trouble is, Mercedes won't allow import of new vehicles into the UK!
