All,

A High-Vis Jacket and a warning triange MUST be carried with effect from today if travelling through France (even if you're just "passing through". The Jacket MUST be carried inside the vehicle and worn before exiting a broken down vehicle ON or OFF the road. The warning Triangle can be carried in the boot (or lockers as the case may be) The driver is required to position the triangle 30 metres behind the broken down vehicle.

If you are stopped by the gendarmes and the vehicle is NOT equipped with these items, or the jacket is NOT being carried so that it can be accessed before exiting the vehicle, the fine is 90€ per missing object!

French regulations are specific, triangle to CEE R27 and jacket to EN 471 classe 2 and both EC marked.
