Years back we used to regularly camp the New Forest. I am hearing that some of the "Day" visitor Parking has Height barriers Now?

We thought of going to Matley Wood . But would need to take the M-H out and about, as initially we will have no "Toad".

Can any one update?

First year under our belt!
One or two of the parking areas were closed when we drove past them recently but that was with proper barriers. We didn't encounter any height barriers at all.

I was last in touch with the Forestry Commission re New Forest parking some 17 months ago. At the time they told me all 135 car parks were accessible by motorhomes (though there could be a need to watch out for low branches in places). I have just sent them a message asking for an update as a result of this thread.

Overnight camping is certainly not allowed in any of the car parks.

Yes I knew that. we intend to CAMP elsewhere (Matley Wood used to be favourite)

But using the M-H for "Sight seeing" is the only option in the short term.

Pete

That's what we do - there's never been any difficulty finding somewhere to park. Make sure you go to Blackwater arboretum and the Tall Trees trail if you haven't already.

Fair enough Pete. Some of our fellow members still confuse parking and camping though :)

I'll post the response from the Forestry Commission when I get it :)

We used to stay at Matley wood years ago. Just up the road on the other side is Denny wood which we used to prefer when we didn't have a dog. Dogs are compulsory at Matley wood (not really but pretty well everyone had one or more when I last went). The warden had 5 I think.

I can't think of any height barriers in the Lyndhurst down to a Lymington bit. All the parking areas around Brockenhurst and Sway are motorhome accessible.

We drove our motorhome to Fordingbridge last month stopping 3/4 times in various parking areas did not see any height barriers
