New Carcassonne aire (1 Viewer)

Have just in to the campsite at Carcassonne and there is a new aire right beside it. Not sure if this as well as the old aire or to replace it. Going up to the city later so will check it. The new aire looks well marked out and has barriers. Will check out and post more info.

The aire does replace the old one near the city. You can still park there during the day but cannot overnight there. The overnight rate varies fro €16 in the high season to €12 low season. Max stay is 72 hours.

just left there today after 2 nights
Walk into city is about 15mins gentle stroll, one short up hill bit to get to the city
spaces are large,more like a campsite, nice an quiet..as long as you dont have some boules competition going on behind you in the campsite!!

Don't do map references as I'm a dinosaur but the campsite is well signposted from the main routes. It's also in the list of ACSI campsites on my satnav, but not in the ACSI book funnily enough. Hope that helps.

That may be because not all the ACSI inspected sites on your satnav are included in the ACSI discount scheme which are the ones in the book.

Used the Aire last year. Good but not cheap for an Aire. But a lot cheaper than the campsite next to it.

Which Aire or Campsite is right near the city? I'm in France now and would like to visit Carcassonne. We never went last year as couldn't find a site right near the city.

They are now next to each other

There has always been a campsite within easy walking distance of the city. Now there is an Aire as well. It is right next to the campsite and appears to have been carved out from part of the campsite.
