Excuse my ignorance but would anyone know if it’s normal for a brand new campervan to not have an onboard hot water facility?
Looking at buying one but seems to be the almost norm
Strikes me as weird when compared to motorhome

I've yet to see one without a boiler.
Some are a combined boiler and blown warm air heater.
Some are separate.
All work on gas and a few with 230v electric as well.

Hi welcome, i see in your avatar "Rollerteam 747" that will undoubtedly have a combi boiler, that will supply heat and hot water from both gas and mains electric.

Camper vans as opposed to panel van conversions have a very limited amount of space, i'd be surprised if many come with hot water as standard, panel van conversions are usually longer and have a little more space so normally do have hot water.

Edit: Back in the day when I had a VW bay window camper we used a kettle to heat water for a wash and shave in the mornings :giggle:

Thankyou
I guess maybe the ones I have looked at are being built without
But I don’t think I will purchase without the hot water ability
As a motorhome user I was very surprised when I had it explained that these one had no hot water ability apart from boiling a kettle or a pot
And as they priced not much short of 50 k average I’m no happy with that as a solution

Hello and welcome, there are no stupid questions on here, we all learn something, always feel free to ask👍

Some do and some don't in the campervan world. My last one didn't have any hot water options bar boiling the kettle (Romahome R10). My current one does have hot water but only when on EHU or if I've been travelling, as mine has a switch which means it can heat the water when the engine is running. Newer vans from the same converter as mine don't have this latter option (the ability to heat on the road) because it apparently doesn't comply with current regulations. So if you're looking at a campervan which says 'hot water', ask some questions about whether it can heat it if it's not hooked up.

Why would you want to have a water boiler in a campervan that has no shower. If you need hot water for washing surely it would be more cost effective to boil a kettle

Thankyou for that
It all will help me divide which is best way to go
I will keep updating this progress as have found the issue by default and it has surprised me as always been used to caravans and motorhomes with full systems like truma etc

I think you would need a lwb pvc to accommodate a water heater.

Are there any inline water heaters like the domestic water heaters you find in toilets etc?

This is right. Many campervans also have little/no fresh water storage. Only a few have a loo etc.

Some do come pretty well equipped - I was very tempted by the Ford Nugget LWB.

Depending upon what you want this is one of the smallest vans with fill facilities (other brands are available) and it is older but only an example of what is out there
