Looks like new brighton, Kings Parade are taking another step toward mor eparking restrictions. This comes after banning over night stays at one end of the prom 4 years ago, and last year installing height barriers at fort perch.
Post going up yestarday along coastal drive. So I decided to go and have a peep under the new signs that are still covered in plastic bin bags. I notice they dont care about the dolphins then ;)
Basically they are introducing day time charges for any vehicle, and also overnights for the likes of us. Still, at least not a complete ban.

As a local I think this is another ill thought through council policy.

Not many will pay £20 to park overnight with absolutely no services and why shouldn’t I be able to sit in my 6m PVC at 9pm to watch the sunset ?

They still haven’t paid me my £150 council energy rebate so they were already in my bad books.

People have been delighted to see the regeneration of New Brighton over the past few years and I can’t imagine the local businesses who have invested in the area will be happy to see even daytime visiting cars having to pay £1 an hour to park along the sea front.

Yes there have been lots of MH’s and vans overnighting at the dips and no doubt some have perhaps stayed longer than many would seem reasonable but as usual it’s a sledgehammer and nut approach.

I used to regularly park at Fort Perch where having the van very close after an open water swim (especially through the winter months) was very helpful and helped increase personal safety.
Then they fitted the height barriers ☹️

Yes !

thats my "last minute go to place" scuppered then.
And all those who park regularly on the adjoining roads will be too

Went over to New Brighton a Saturday night a few weeks ago in our 7m Motorhome. We stopped close to the castle car park by the turning point in 2 spaces at about 8pm. We had no intention of staying there, just stopped to look on searchforsites for a Close by pub.

We hadn’t been there 2 mins when a chap in a white van pulled alongside, got out and flashed his council badge stating we couldn’t park there. Explained what we were doing, he told us 10 mins and move on.

Drove on and went to Southport and had a meal there instead.
