Woody has been back at Travelworld for just over a week with a list of faults which they are going to sort out under warranty. Jim in their service department called me on Friday to let me know that the turbo was broken and they had ordered a new one from the USA to be fitted. It should (with luck) be here in about 3 weeks, so I really look forward to being able to drive it at hills without it slowing down to a walking pace :roflmto:
I guess that all the other bits and pieces will be sorted out at the same time and we will have our coach back all working 100% and we will be looking forward to attending the Valentines Meet in it :thumb:

Hi Keith

I Am NOT trying to pick holes in Travelworlds service here they seem to be sorting out all your probs with no questions asked..

I was just wondering as a point of interest, has the turbo gone since youve had the RV or was it like that when it left Travelworld ? if it was busted before it left them how did it get past them on their pre delivery service..

Keith, Sharon,

Here's hoping Woody is well and able to blow properly as soon as possible! Mind you, now you can get out there and weed that part of the drive in the meantime...

Hi Keith
Funny you should ask that matey..... When I picked Woody up (several weeks late because of difficulties with Travelworld being able to obtain hydraulic hoses for the steering :Eeek:) I drove it quite cautiously as I had no idea how it would perform / handle. I noticed that it seemed to be exceptionally slow and slowed down massively on hills. We got it home and filled up with necessities and took off directly to the meet that we had organised at Hollyfast so I didn't have time to really check anything. It was while we were at Hollyfast that I noticed the red "check coolant" light was illuminated on the dash and required about 2.5 litres of fluid to top it up, since found out that the bottom hose on the radiator is leaking :Eeek: The progress has always been very slow in Woody especially compared to Rocky, which was only about 1/4 ton lighter and had the same mechanicals. Rocky used to have some serious get up and go about it, but Woody has always seemed lazy.
I guess that it wasn't picked up on the road test in the same way as the brakes not fully releasing was not picked up?????? On a recent trip we were struggling to get to 25 MPH when I stuck my toe under the brake pedal and lifted it up (don't know why I did it really) and the pedal rose about an inch an a half and the coach shot off, well I use that term loosely :roflmto: Anyway, fitting a bungy around the pedal made sure that the brakes actually released fully but it did nothing to increase the power, and now we know why :thumb:
I am not certain how thorough the pre delivery checks were as we had many issues with the coach, so I have my own thoughts on that.... Needles to say that I shall be going over it with a fine tooth comb when we pick it up again and let us just hope that there are no footprints inside the coach, because I do not relish the thought of spending out on a rental upholstery machine and spending an entire weekend of my time cleaning the interior AGAIN, nuff said
I want to keep my thoughts to myself for now as my coach is in the shop and I would rather wait to see what happens before making further comments. I hope to be able to report great things about this visit though..............

Update on Woodys progress
Got an email from Jim in Travelworlds service department today to keep me up to speed with progress and he told me that the new windscreen should be fitted this week, this is being fitted and invoiced to our insurers leaving only the small excess for us to pay directly to TW.
The turbo will hopefully be with Travelworld by mid next week and will be fitted as soon as they have it. We also had a problem with glow plugs, one or more had failed, and Jim tells me that during investigation it was noticed that one of the glow plugs had sheared in the cylinder head, requiring the head to be removed to remove it and fit a new one.
I can honestly say that I am more than impressed with the level of service and the attention to detail that we are receiving from Travelworld and considering that this work is being done under their warranty, they have demonstrated that they are certainly not a company that shirk their responsibilities to their customers.
So far I can only sing the praises of Travelworld and especially to Jim in service, they are doing a superb job and I could recommend them to anyone.
I cannot wait to get Woody back though, it will seem a completely different coach :thumb:
I am one very happy customer :thumb:

Keith, I realise it must be frustrating to be without Woody, but as you say, you are getting decent treatment from Travelworld, and I am sure they are pampering Woody and getting him into fine fettle.

Will you be able to handle him when you get him back? After all, he will be firing on all cylinders at last and breathing freely.!!! ::bigsmile:

Have to say Keith, that I too had some expensive (very) warranty work carried out on my slides, Travelworld did a good job in fixing the problem to an excellent standard. Praise where its due:thumb:

Hi Papa
I driven bigger and more powerful things :ROFLMAO: so I hope that I still remember how to hang on mate :thumb: Can't wait though....
Yes Jim, praise indeed. It was really because of the work that they did on your coach that made us feel that they were a decent, trustworthy company (don't hear that phrase much these days eh???) and helped us to decide on spending a little more and buy from a dealer instead of privately. We are so glad that we did now or John at Logical Automotive would have been rubbing his hands together :Eeek:
I will obviously continue to update the ongoing situation, but for now I am really happy, although missing our coach :Eeek:

I can understand your frustration and disappointment that Woody is still not with you.. have Travelworld offered you any compensation or perhaps a some freebies from the accessories dept. ?
Our house batteries failed which I replaced at my own cost, when I complained they gave me a free bike rack.. worth more than four batteries..

Hi Sharon & Keith sorry to hear about the delay but at least Woody's in good hands.

I am so impatient and would be pulling my hair out by now:Doh::RollEyes:

If everything gets done now Woody will be A1 for this season and well worth the wait as it's being done under warranty:thumb:

Good luck and hope he's back soon:winky:

Hi all
Thanks for the comments, however I am beginning to wonder about Woody being "in good hands" John..... Impatient, you bet I am, I am starting to get really fed up now as Travelworld have had Woody on their premises for more time than we have had it since we handed over our deposit :Eeek: How does that work?????
I am definitely getting nervous that when we collect Woody, whatever time that was left of our warranty when we took it back for repairs will have elapsed and I think a discussion is in order to give us back the time it has been back in their shop. I cannot believe that the things that have failed, did so following our collection of the coach, therefore one has to assume that the faults with the turbo, the leaking radiator and the brakes were already in existence and were not picked up during either the PDI or the service that we paid extra to have carried out. The fact that this work is being carried out under warranty is a side issue, because the coach "SHOULD" have been in a good working condition when we collected it, after all it was with Travelworld for some 5 - 6 weeks before our original collection, and to this end I am now nervous that our warranty will have time expired and we will not be able to have any further faults (should they exist) rectified under said warranty scheme.
I am less impressed as time goes on and fail to understand what on earth is taking so long to re-fit a few bolts, we are clearly not a high priority customer, and this will be considered when we purchase our next RV.......
I will of course keep you up to speed with this dilemma

Sorry to hear this.

They have the reputation as the premier RV dealer (or that's what I thought)

S'pose that's why it's go deal with Linda (if she had had a Woody style of vehicle in when needed)

Do hope it resolved quickly and properly for you now.

Is it another weeks work or is another week before they get round to doing the stuff they need to do?

If they are waiting for bits, then point them toward Linda she the fastest shipper:roflmto:

Time for Keith to get MAD me thinks as they are starting to treat you like mugs. What is taking the time? As Jim has said unless they are having specialist parts constructed it should have been here and done.

Travelworld are doing themselves no favours here as I like others thought they were the best:RollEyes:

I hope the finish line is nearer now than it was a week ago.
Keith will say what has been done - and no, there are no parts we are waiting for. As far as I am aware, the last part was in over two weeks ago. It may even have been three.

So hopefully after 7 some weeks, we will get Woody back again and roadworthy. There is a site near Travelworld that we will stay at for a few days when we collect, and maybe take in Ironbridge again:Smile:

Keith, you don't know me but I have been following this thread with interest and all I can say is, that, when you get your vehicle back, I hope it performs like BRAND NEW again.
Good luck.

Thanks John and all for your kind words.
I am disgusted at what is transpiring at Travelworld, the communication leaves a lot to be desired and the speed of repairs is appalling.
Just for a recap, we took Woody back to Travelworld at the beginning of January and agreed that they could keep it until the end of January so that ALL the repairs could be carried out properly.
It is now the second week of February and we get a message saying that they "have experienced further delays when rebuilding the engine on your motorhome"........ I was not aware that they were rebuilding my engine???
I do not want to say any more about this now as I have written to them asking for a sit rep and also requesting an extension to the warranty and some form of compensation. I am especially angry because the fault with the brakes was "it appears that Part of the linkage was corroded and part seized whch cause the problem The Brakes themselves were NOT binding and worked ok"?????
Why was this not found during the service that we paid an extra £500 for? and why did the coach accelerate noticeably when I put my toe under the brake pedal and lifted it up about an inch???
There is something going on here that I am not entirely comfortable with and I do intend to get to the bottom of.... I sincerely hope that they start to treat us correctly in the very near future and show that they are worthy of the advert they have at the head of this sites main page.

Hi Keith
Sorry to hear about your problems with Travelworld
I seem to remember you saying that during the refitting of the heater plugs that they had broken one off in the head and that the head needed to be removed to extract the broken piece maybe thats what they refer to as a rebuild
However regarding the brakes problem I would be concerned that if the problem with " binding " has be happening for some time I think an inspection of all the brake linigs/pads and drums/discs should be done to check for excessive wear and heat cracking

Just something to bear in mind mate

Hi Tony
I guess that you may be right mate, removal and refitting a cylinder head doesn't constitute an "engine rebuild" in my book though, obviously just another communication problem ??
Regarding the brakes, this is what is of grave concern to me. We agreed to pay a considerable amount of money to Travelworld so that they could carry out a full chassis service (this is in addition to the PDI that was due to be carried out on the coach) and the faulty brakes managed to get through both checks????????? One has to seriously doubt that a service was in fact carried out, and the leak from the radiator bottom hose kind of points toward my claim as well. On the first day we collected Woody, we drove it home and then we attended the meet at Hollyfast. When we got there, Geo asked what the water was that was piddling out of the back of our new (to us) coach..... It turned out to be leaking from the bottom radiator hose where the jubilee clip secures it onto the rad? I had commented then to Geo and others about how appallingly slow it was to drive, how the test drive didn't show this up amazes me, after all, Travelworld are one of the biggest USRV dealers in the UK and I would have thought that their technicians would be able to to realise that something was wrong.
Anyway, enough from me, I am now awaiting some form of response from Travelworld to see where we go from here and I do not want to jeopardise my position.
Thanks all for your concerns, I will let you all know the outcome.
