I’m a newbie - since 2021
Hi All,

I was going to post in the Bailey section but it’s more of a general “what would you do” type question.

Having read reviews and done lots of research we were expecting some issues with a new Bailey, however the layout is ideal for us and we love the look of the van. We’ve had quite a few minor issues including broken roof blinds, loose captain chair arms, and silicon literally EVERYWHERE. My biggest complaint is the floor in the raised living area which creaks like mad when you walk on it. If one person gets up early it’s a pain as you can’t move about without waking the other one up.

Would you guys complain about this? There’s also some bad marks in that section of the flooring which the dealer tried to remove when we collected the van but they are still there. I’m contemplating asking them to take up the floor covering, fit the boarding properly so it doesn’t creak and put a new covering down?

Thoughts appreciated!

Thank you!

As you said yourself, you had reservations about quality before you bought the motorhome.

In my opinion you are justified in ASKING for improvements to be made but I'm doubtful you have any rights to enforce it. If the vehicle works correctly then anything more will be goodwill.

I would liaise with the dealer and try and work with them.
With regards to the creaking again ask your dealer what they advise? From chatting on here you could be a 22 stone behemoth but we don’t know!
Silicone on any van is a mess, it can be tidied up but it is there to do a job and seal so be careful,
With regards to broken blinds and other bits that isn’t Baileys fault.

Don't know if it's the case with Bailey motorhomes but some manufacturers build the furniture \ fitments on top of the floorcoverings so may mean removal of all of this if floorcoverings have to be lifted. Having said that you need to get to the bottom of why it's creaking.

Hi all, thank you for the replies. I've had it back into the dealer today, the issue with the floor is a known one for Bailey vans apparently. (or at least the model we have) It's an underfloor locker (I think where the leisure battery is) which needs to have the floor reinforced around it with some additional timber supports which should hopefully stop the creaking.

I'm 12 stone by the way!! Well I was at the start of last week before we went to Anglesey for the week and maybe drank a little too much beer.....

My cousin has the Bailey 76-4 and had this problem, the remedy was simple, he stuck some self adhesive Velcro pads on the underside of the hatch door, no more squeaks, simple cheap effective, 👍👍

We bought a Bailey Autograph Approach 765 in 2016 and it had this problem went back several times to be fixed along with a load of other problems , in the end we sold it ,so they have known about this sought of problem for a while

Thanks guys, it’s booked in with the dealer to try and sort along with a number of other issues which I’m fairness aren’t all Bailey related (broken blinds, problem with Thetford toilet etc). I’ll try the Velcro pads if it perseveres! It’s only really a problem in the morning when one of us gets up before the other…
