After a long trip to Ilfracoombe we now have a set of goldschmitt front booster springs fitted to the front axle. We were fed up being smashed and crashed about every time the van hit a bump in the road. The clearance between the front bump stops and the axle was about an inch and every bump hit the bottom of the travel.. the new springs fit around the damper rod under the shield and do work, it lifted the front end about two inches more, and there is a different bump stop fitted as well.. Does it work? well it seems to make a big difference to the ride but still the big bumps will bottom out, but generally they are better. Were they worth the money? well again it was the best part of £970 to have them fitted and that is a lot of money for a pair of motorbike rear springs and a few fittings. I think that they were expensive but SWMBO say it was worth it to keep our kidneys in place. Hymer should not have sold the van under sprung and it should have come out with the correct poundage fitted, but now they have made another bundle selling me the correction to their neglect in design.

Not sure that I fully understand the bit about Hymer. Are you saying that you were sold a new van with inadequate suspension?.

Hi that’s sounds good I need a set done on my rapido any chance you could let me have details of we’re you got job done tel No etc thanks Andy

Am I being a bit simple here, I know yeah yeah ?

Why not just fit updated springs instead of additional ones.

Confused of Cheltenham ?

YES they do. the van is front heavy as the body bed etc is over the front axle without the standard Sprinter transverse spring being uprated it is low and soon deteriates so that every bump jars and crashes to make it uncomfortable.. They fit the stronger spring to the V6 engine model as that comes from MB with it as standard , it might not bother the non 'A' class models but it does mine. It got worse as time went on and the original spring weakened a bit.

COS it is a pain in rear to pull out the front Spring on a Sprinter and the composite replacement cost two arms and a leg.
