Spotted this new Alde "Kaminschild" accessory https://alde.se/de/produkte/mobil/?page=3766 to prevent ice forming on the side of the motorhome :

It's around €9 on German websites but reading reviews looks like some have used it as a template to make their own in softer material so easier to take on & off & a few have extended it to cope with deeper body panels.
Thought as an idea at least it might be of interest to those who travel to colder destinations or full time.

L-Parts https://www.l-parts.de/ do offer some good deals if you email them direct info@l-parts.de
rather than going via eBay or Amazon & they can email a Paypal invoice so still buying with Paypal Buyer Protection - we have previously bought Froli springs & mesh plus HEOSdoor mats from them as more competitive than prices in UK even with shipping :xThumb: They have some innovative products not widely available here.

Our German dealer suggested that a clothes peg attached to the bottom of the vent would deflect any dripping condensation away from the bodywork.

I bet the peg looks lovely on your mega bucks N+B Robert, and your Rapido Ed - 'while spoil the ship for a hapeth o tar' as the saying goes.

I use a peg, but note that Leisureshop Direct do just the spout for £4.95 or thereabouts

Thank you :xThumb: - just found the link - currently £4.65 plus £2.99 delivery.
If anyone is thinking of buying then maybe worth calling Leisure Shop to double check as this is part number 3010-69 on their listing & the Alde catalogue shows it as part number 3010 697
"Condensate spout An accessory for every winter camper. Ice formation on the side of the vehicle in winter is a well-known problem for caravan and motor caravan owners. The Condensate spout just clicks onto the wall flue. It also ensures the vehicle’s heating system continues to operate. Material: PE black. Part no. 3010 697"

I wonder if we get the same problem with our Alde roof vent---- I have never been on the roof when it's freezing out to check it!!!!??????

This different version is popular on FB groups overseas that we follow - going to buy one to try (Xmas pressie for motorhome!) as unlike the Alde brand version it doesn't have to be removed for travel as understand that it's soft plastic, doesn't protrude too much, is quick & easy to fit, not as easy to steal & is reputed to do the job well. Buying from the German manufacturer here http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-5...0001&campid=5338547443&icep_item=202799202855 €18.09 delivered. It's available for Alde & Truma vents in yellow, grey, white & black - we have gone for black on a black vent. Please note when paying by Paypal for overseas transactions it's best to use a zero rated card then remember to click on their highlighted Paypal currency rate (it's low) then choose to pay in Euros not GBP which means it will then be at your card issuer rate not the Paypal conversion rate which isn't competitive. At todays rate we paid £15.50 - know that some will say that's a lot for a bit of plastic but if it does the job well & looks smart then we will be happy.
