I thought the Abbey parking was the only place to stay?

I don't know as have never been there. But the arrow on the Google Maps in the post show it the other side of the village to the Abbey

I think the arrow is just general to the villages, parking is right next to the Abbey and Tea rooms.

It’s the main car park at the Abbey, as you come through the village you will see the Abbey directly in front you turn left there. You’ll see the bowling green and small toilet block.
