any one got the hill descent control on reading about it it still uses the brakes so can it cook the brakes on a long descent?

To me hill descent is a LandRover type of thing that allows you to go slowly down a steep hill in second gear. Not sure if this handles a 1in10 descent on the autoroute or not.

Yep got one of them buttons in the middle under the heater controls. Have tried it a few times and got it to work twice. It usually says Hill Decent Not Available. Still got to work out why it works sometimes and not others. The other button above the gear shift just lets the auto box change at different times. We have a friend who uses it when towing.

I think HDC only works below 30kph. It uses a low gear (auto) and can use a lot of brakes.

It maybe works in a similar way to an exhaust or engine brake, which uses exhaust back pressure to slow the progress, leaving unused brake pads fresh?
