As self confessed culture vultures the Musuemkaart seems an exceptional deal, (entry to nearly every museum for 12 months for €65) However it seems they've made it hard for tourists...
If I read it right you can buy a temporary one at any participating museum, register it on line, at which point they'll post out a yearly one- 5 days later, to a Dutch address.
The temporary one is good for 5 entrances, whilst you wait for the real one. Obviously you have to know where you can collect it...

Has anyone any experience of this, or found a way to make this work to suit a single trip? We will be there for 16 days next month...

That card is for access to more than 450 Netherlands museums and not intended for tourists.
I'd try contacting the actual museum(s) of interest and ask about their day visitor charge.

They offer a visitor card valid for 5 museums but even that is 65 Euros.
