I have a number of Vehicles that don't get used every day, motorhome, forklift, jcb loader, etc, I have had no end of trouble with the yuasa battries, i now fit Bosch, slightly more expensive, but fit and forget, now every thing starts even after weeks of no use.
Tip for Motorhome storage is if out side fit solar panels , if inside plugin, i leave heater on lowest in mine.

My battery is dead, tried to recover it but it will not take a charge above 11.4 volts. It has been deeply discharged whilst in storage. Tried all of the tricks (other good battery in parallel, changing charging rates etc) but I'm afraid its gone. it's a

Anyone have recommendations for a good quality replacement at a reasonable price? Looking at Exide at the moment with 800CCA rather than the Banner 680CCA.

Tayna batteries (Web). Seem

to be the best price I could find for quality batteries. Have replaced leisure and starting batteries from them.
All EFB, great service, about £6.00 delivery I think.

Got ours from here but they are currently out of stock

The other option I looked at was here

Both more expensive than Lenny's £105
Can I ask where you got it please Lenny - cheapest I can find is £119.99?
Tayna charge delivery on top of battery price. Battery Megastore is free del on orders over £30. Probably works out very similar.

Tayna will give a 5% discount if you sign up to their newsletter also if buying more than one battery phone them and they will just charge one lot of carriage.
I normally buy from Tayna but this time Halfords were cheaper and more convenient.

The price I quoted in post #10 included the delivery cost from Tayna. Battery Megastore is, as noted, out of stock.

I had a new 95AH 800CCA EN Battery, including fitting for £107 + Vat.
This was done by Haynes in Wallingford. 01491 836097. There was no problems with having to reset the radio & clock etc. It can save a lot of hassle & back ache to get someone else to fit it. They also did the first service at the same time for a very competitive price.
You may find your local garage turns out to be competitive if you ask around. By the way our local Fiat main agent estimated £250 to fit a engine battery.

Yuasa batteries use ca/ca technology and from what I read they require charging at a higher voltage in the order of 16V - 16.5V. As most vehicle alternators regulate the charging voltage to about 15V does anyone foresee any possible charging issues that may degrade the battery performance?

I thought moist of the Bosch & Varta batteries are calcium also.
Yuasa give the charge voltage as 14.4 to 14.8v.

Tayna give 10% to CMC members.
Now that is worth noting. Tayna do really keen prices anyway and an additional 10% may just swing it for me as opposed to waiting for my Halfords Trade card with associated discounts. Hence the value of these forums. I’m a member of CMC (CAMC) and that would have slipped right past me. Thanks!

This is the article I was referring to regarding CA batteries needing a higher charging voltage.

Calcium Battery Charging

The problem is that a special battery charger is needed for a calcium battery, Master is ideal Watt BOT-30 with artificial intelligence. Also, this charger should produce a charge voltage of 16.1-16.5 V. In this case, you can charge the battery "CA", "CA/CA" up to 100 percent. If your charger is capable of delivering a maximum voltage of 14.8 V, and then the electronics are disconnected, then the battery will fill up by only 45 to 50 percent, if there is a 15.5 V limit, then 70 to 80. Such indicators will never help to achieve electrolyte density at 1.27 g/cm³

Therefore, first of all, you need to find a charge that can produce a voltage of 16.1-16.5 V. Conventional devices cannot do this.

At this stage, you may have a question, if such a large voltage is needed for charging, how does the generator handle this?

Indeed, the generators of even the cars of the last years of production do not give more than 15 V, but in practice the generator simply does not allow such a battery to discharge.

If you read Yuasa info they say they have increased the chare range up to 14.8v to cope with Ford vehicles charging voltage as they use Silver Calcium batteries.
I think I would go with Yuasa figures as they designed the battery rather than a general article. Also they are fitted as OEM batteries worldwide.
