Sue I have read somewhere that need to disconnect solar panels before disconnecting/changing habitation battery, but can't find reference to it by searching.
Is it the inputs to the mppt solar controller that need disconnecting, or the outputs, or does it not matter as long as one is disconnected?
Also curious as to the technical reason this is necessary.
Thanks

if you disconnect the batteries while the solar is running youll have live terminals to deal with also the controller needs to see the battery voltage before the solar is connected to set its self just throw a blanket over the panel or pop one input wire out of the controller

Mine on both the new Adria and the old 2012 Bessacarr were never disconnected to charge either battery. I’m not saying your system does not need to do this but I have never heard anyone say they have to do that. What happens when your on EHU do you cover your solar panel, doesn’t sound logical to me. I’m sure someone with such knowledge will be able to help soon.
That's DISCONNECT/CHANGE the battery, not to charge it

50 years of boating, just one on motorhomes.
Once on the boat I forgot to do that…. £1600 repair to studer inverter together with the complications of sending to and from Switzerland later!!!

Best to disconnect one of the panel connections from the controller as a lot of solar controller require the battery to be connected before the panel to set the charging voltage.

Just disconnect the solar panels from the solar regulator before disconnecting batteries, and don't reconnect till the batteries are reconnected. Covering the solar panels may work but is impractical on mine as no access ladder.

And when you disconnect the panels from the controller insulate the end of the wire to avoid any surprises
