We need to buy an adaptor to go from a Shuko (IE 2 pin Continental) plug to the usual IP44 blue industrial connector. We are driving from Irun (North) along the N10 then past Tours, Chartres, to Rouen. I know it's a long shot but does anyone know of somewhere where I might buy one along the way? Tomorrow or Friday.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
Mike

Last time I needed one of those I just happened to have a continental extension lead and a spare blue socket so I made one up, just a thought.

Virtually all appliances in the nearer continental countries (France, Germany, Spain, Netherlands etc) have a unified plug that fits into both French and German style sockets. Plugging in an appliance is never an issue. However when it comes to extension leads, it's a different matter.

The sockets need to be either French (reversed earth pin) or German (two contacts top and bottom). There is no unified socket. Because of that, most extension leads have a plug that is the same as the sockets, not a unified plug. Also when buying a rewireable plug, they are mostly the non-unified plug, although the unified plugs are usually available if you look carefully.

So you have to be careful if you are making up your own adapter, that the plug is the unified type, so you can use it on any socket.
Sockets, German/Spanish and French:

Plugs, German/Spanish only, French only, unified, fits both:
