Will be installing a television in the MH shortly.

Should I get Digital, Analogue, or dish, or all three :ROFLMAO:

Analogue will be going shortly won't it? At least digital is future proofed, isn't it

What set up have you please?

Cheers

In my opinion Free view or Satellite are the choice of today, and a number of ways to get there as well,
1 flat screen with built in free view
2 cheaper flat screen and free view box
either with a satellite dish and box
best advise i can give is to buy your TV from the likes of asda/comet etc, look out for the power supply, get one that converts from mains to 12 volt and you have the choice of power to use, get one that converts from mains to say 15 volt and you can only run on mains or inverter.
your budget and need for TV while away, will dictate which way you finish up, any more questions just ask
Geo
Just don't buy from the Motor home/caravan accessory shops, there is no need to pay an arm and a leg for your electrical equipment
Just as an after thought more important than your choice of TV, is your choice of arial or dish

Hi

All depends on whatyou want really. I will tell you about our setup which comprises.
21" LCD Toshiba TV with Digital tuner
Fortec Star Digital sattelite Reciever
Sky DigiBox with freeview card
maxview 66cm elliptical dish, crank up sattelite dish (which incidentally gives much better reception when in spain than our 85cm Oyster ever did)

all our gear is mains powered we found out by experience that running things through the invertor when not on a hookup gave us much better battery life than using 12volt gear (dont ask me why) but we have tried both and the invertor setup gives us much bettter battery life.

Hi Steve

I bought one about 2 months ago & am well pleased with it. Does Digital, analogue, av & monitor for laptop. 12V no problem I run it off it all the time.
As I said speakers need to be better, a bit tinny due to their size.
Light enough to be mounted on the wall but I had to make another bracket the stand supplied didn't seem man enough for my liking.
Maplins sell them but cheaper on Ebay ::bigsmile:

So the stand is removable then?

Was looking to roof mount via a bracket.

Cheers Keith.:thumb:

Steve, these dont take the standard wall bracket you find in the shops. they dont have the predrilled holes to take the screws.

The stand does come off and these are so light I had mine mounted on a wall by using velcro. I now have made a stand so it's stays on the wall all the time.

We used to use a 15" flat panel set from Currys with a set top box but it is mains only and a bit of a faff on to set up. Maplins had Link Removed (similar to Keith's) on offer a few months ago so we got one. Works fine on both digital and analogue and on 12 volt and mains.

Because our van is only a small one it doesn't matter that the built-in speakers aren't all that powerful.

That one is identical to mine, I saw them in Maplins but then bought mine off ebay for much less. I think I got it for around £128 & maplins wanted 199. Maplins sometimes have B grade ones cheaper.

We saw them originally at £199, Keith, and decided it was too much. Then Maplins had them on offer for a few weeks in August. If I remember correctly the price was about £120. The daft thing was that the brand new ones were less than the B grade ones for that short period.

Just found the receipt - 15th August and it was £149.99 so you beat me Keith ::bigsmile: I still have an idea that the B Grade were dearer at the time

I have two systems in my RV. set top box in the back bedroom which comes from the normal aerial and satellite that comes from a maxiview crank up which I fitted myself. Well pleased with the maxiview worked well in Italy this summer. Just for weekends I use a secondhand sky box with the twenty pound one off fee card, for longer trips bring the sky box and card from home.

Regards

Lampie
