A few years now
It's not long now until the UK launch show of new motorhomes https://mcshow.co.uk  - it may not be as good as the Dusseldorf Caravan Salon Show but it is the best place to see models available here & a glimpse of what can be imported plus a chance to talk to the manufacturers if visiting on a weekday. We find the smaller stands with new accessories & products interesting especially when you can talk to the person who invented them.
Tickets are cheaper in advance than buying on the day & some clubs offer discounted ones for a set day. Larger dealerships send out tickets to frequent customers so if anyone has got some & doesn't want them we can make good use of them & sure other Funsters could too!
Here's a link for free tea/coffee on the Swift stand - it's to be used 10am until midday & can be printed multiple times (y) - this is emailed out to those on their mailing list. As well as money saving it's a good way of having a sit down & break at the tables in their hospitality area - sometime it's too busy to find a seat elsewhere.

A few of the new models have already been posted here https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/whats-new-in-motorhomes-2020.203804/

Some more tips from previous years which may be helpful for those going for the first time:
Weekdays are much quieter than the weekends so better to walk around & not have to queue.
Parking is included in the cost of your ticket & plenty of room to park the motorhome but not allowed to stay overnight. Car parks are normally some distance away from the main building & as lots of Show halls to walk around so might be a good idea to hop on the free shuttle bus that takes you from the car park to the main entrance but don't forget to note which car park you are in! Also they run from outside the Atrium entrance from 8am-7pm - don't miss the last one or you might have a long walk to your car park.
Sensible shoes - not just because of the large area that you might cover but also going up & down all those motorhome steps of varying heights safely.
Wear layers as although may be cold outside it gets really hot in the halls with all the lights & people.
Taking a rucksack with food & drinks is a good idea as cheaper & don't have to queue. Suggest only one rucksack if two of you as some manufacturers don't allow them to be taken into their premium models so may have to take it in turns or leave it outside.
There is the option of visiting M&S Simply Food at the nearby airport by walking then using the free Air-Rail link - it's a bit of a walk but easy. Any NEC staff should be able to point you in the right direction as they are normally friendly & helpful.
You can go in & out of the halls freely just don't forget to get your hand stamped the first time you leave. When it's busy & crowded being able to get outside in the fresh air for a break is really good. Another Funster suggested that it's easier to go out of a hall into the walkway then back into the next one rather than walk through the halls if lots of crowds (y)
Look out for competitions to enter - could make your trip really worthwhile :)
Pace yourself - it can be a lot to get around & if you have a limited time suggest planning & prioritising the stands you want to see in advance from the online Show Guide & download the floor plan from here on your phone - these are both on their website about a week before the Show.
Can pick up the paper copy of the free Show Guide on arrival - as mentioned above it can be handy to tear out the maps & have them handy.
There is free Wi-Fi in the walkways outside the halls so worth checking any prices or information online before buying - some sales staff don't know all the facts or might even make it up to get a sale :(
Take photos of Show prices & layouts (there are usually boards outside each motorhome) & anything else that you might forget later. It's easy to be dazzled by all the glitz & excitement of the Show.
If getting a quote for a motorhome that is of interest & you are sitting down with a salesman then don't forget to mention that you would love a tea or coffee as many have hospitality facilities so then you will have had a break & a drink at the very least.
Ask for a cooling off period with your choice of motorhome held if you do agree a sale - 24 hours is normal.
Be friendly & smile - it's long hours & hard work on the stands so more likely to get a good deal if you are likeable not demanding

*********** Be quick if you want this one! Ends midnight 10 October ****************

Pair of free day tickets (or goody bag) to the NEC Show when taking out £5 MMM magazine (for 5 issues) https://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/motorhomes/promotions/mmm/necoct19/presub/tick?utm_source=Communicator&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=MMM_Tickets_Button_Default&utm_campaign=Fancy+a+FREE+day+out+at+the+NEC''s+Motorhome+&+Caravan+Show?&_ccCt=ejoDG5r3JxKvFvunK_D3B3QciBzxHcRQJCXzpvULhXqb3Q8t0WjJYe~gqpRqXqVn but don't forget to cancel after that if you want to as it goes up to £10.99 a quarter. Being a subscribing member for that short time also gets you £5 off each Warners 2020 Show as they should be available to book then. If anyone decides to subscribe but don't want the tickets sure someone on here can give them a good home :)

We will be there on Tuesday for another round of tyre kicking, my understanding is that both Morelo and Concorde will be there (y) Morelo will be launching the new Loft in the UK although we have seen it at Dusseldorf and it is a very fine vehicle;)

Tickets booked with Caravan and Camping Club discount code plus "old fart's" over 60 discount, the Caravan and Motorhome Club were £0.50 dearer per ticket:D2

Glad it's of use :) We've used the Swift stand coffee/tea vouchers for several years now - very handy & have not ever been targeted by sales staff which was our concern the first time. The MMM subscription offer with Show tickets is a new one (the goody bag one has been running for at least a couple of years) so hopefully it will work out well.

Jim
Hopefully you'll save some mags and goodies for us.
We will be there on the last sunday

For a quieter and cheaper place to get a bite to eat and a drink at the NEC we went to Wetherspoons. There are 2 branches, at the Atrium and Piazza.

Bear in mind if making a purchase of a Motorhome from a dealer who is hundreds of miles away from your home address because he/she is offering a great deal that you may well have to travel back to that dealer each time to carry out any warranty work.

The Show Guide is now available to view online & download https://mcshow.co.uk/plan-your-visit/show-guide/ - it's handy for early planning but there will also be free paper copies available to pick up once there.
The ad. for Motorhome Fun magazine is on page 72 (y)

The shuttle bus from the car parks starts at 8am according to the Show Guide - both Wetherspoons are likely to be busy with traders having breakfast.

IH Motorhomes are launching 2 new models with passenger seats https://www.ihmotorhomes.com/.

Haven't seen Etrusco motorhomes https://www.etrusco.com/ before but part of Hymer group & like some others they have "Vans" which are van width low profile coachbuilt models:

These narrow models seem to be getting more common now as are the bathrooms with swing across walls that transform it into a shower cubicle - must both be popular options.

Interested in VIN CHIP - this has been a standard security product for caravans for the last few years but now available for motorhomes for £34.99. Want to find out more about it so their stand 20.46 is on our list.

That looks interesting. And pretty cheap. I wonder what the range of the RFID devices is. Otherwise it’s fine to hide them, but police/selling dealers need to know where to scan.

Dates for the diary - the 2020 Show is 13-18 October.
Also the February Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show will return to Birmingham NEC between 18-23 February 2020. The February Show is a bit different to the October one - not so good for buying motorhomes as it's just dealer stands with little or no manufacturers present (for manufacturers offers & technical info.) but more smaller & accessory stands so maybe better than the October one for finding gadgets & gizmos!

Now I am confused, Wombles. Their literature indicates Etrusco are part of the Erwin Hymer Group, their web site indicates a contact at Laika and a salesman at VDL at le Bourget last week said they could be ordered through my local Burstner concessionaire if one of their 22 French concessionaires wasn't close.

However, Etrusco (ETRVSCO) on much of their billboard displays have a range of nine models varying in length from 5.95 metres to 7.40 metres, all with the Citroen 2.2 litre (140 hp) engine. PTAC is 3.5 t and a payload of 547 kg for the bigger ones up to 807 kg for the shorties.. Looking at the info I have, it is possible to up the unladen weight to 3650 kg on all models. NO spare wheel, just a "Fix & Go" kit.

Any questions?

John
