Still looking.
We are going to be in the NEC on Saturday for the show and I was wondering if any of the members had any good hints or tips. Like, must-see stands, booking things in advance or even food related. You know, the kind of things that you would wish you had known before you went but only know after you've been. We are staying in a Hotel within walking distance of the NEC so don't need to worry about parking. We've got the map/plan but really haven't planned anything yet. Should we start in a certain Hall and work our way around or what ? We have only tickets for Saturday so do you think we will be able to see everything in one day ? or will we be bored after 2 hours.

All advice welcome and appreciated.

We went Tuesday spent all day just wandering around the motorhome bit spent a while trying to buy a Hymer however ended up with a Carthago I don't think you will get bored and I don't think you will get round it all in 1day.

IF you don't want anything be wary you will find something you may need
If you want something don't buy the first you see - find out who has the best price

Wear comfortable walking shoes
Take a flask and sandwiches the food prices are scary unless you're minted

Have in mind what type of layout you would like/need and don't waste too much energy/time looking at vans which obviously would be no use to you. (you are allowed to be curious/dream a bit!)
As well as layout, make sure your chosen van has got enough payload (some have surprisingly little) and make sure that you know what size your drive is ;)
Oh and some vans have more berths than seatbelts:doh:

Make sure your jabs are up to date.
Leave your cheque book and cards at home.
Take pics of stuff that interests you and look at it a week later to see if you still like it.

Watch the floors, as another funster advised earlier in the week, all the cabling has been covered over by the carpets so you don't think about stepping over them. We stumbled many a time yesterday whilst walking around. Ha.... perhaps it's was just us being clumsy. Quite easy to forget about as you are looking around.

Get there as soon as it opens, quick walk round whole show, shortlist a few stands, then start. It gets very congested later!

We went yesterday (Thursday) we’d never been before. Used to go to Düsseldorf which is a lot bigger and could be overwhelming if you didn’t know what you wanted. I think if you really wanted to see everything then 2 days would be better. We sort of new what we wanted but it still took nearly all day to conclude our order. If you are looking to buy a new vehicle then most dealers are guaranteeing prices if you order at the show, some though are not. If you are Px-ing then have the spec of your vehicle typed out and loads of photos. We used Dropbox to store the images and emailed link to dealers we spoke to. That way they were able to make us offers on the spot. We also had printouts of similar vans to ours that had been sold recently to give dealers an idea of prices, not that they really needed it. This was important for us as our van (Challenger Vany) is not available in uk.
