Looking at installing a 1000 watt NDS Modified sine wave inverter
specs are 1000 watt continuous
2000 watt peak
Will the above run a 600 watt microwave which I understand requires about 1200 watt on startup or would I better of with the next model up 1500 watt
I have 2 x 110 amp battery’s and
2 x 120 watt solar through a MPPT solar regulator

Why on Earth would you want a modified sine inverter?

Mod sinewave may not run the microwave properly if at all.
Modern electronics need a pure sinewave or damage can occur.
Motors are OK but IC boards complain.

2kw pure sine and you’ll be covered for most things but just be wary for running them for too long. Maybe fit a battery monitor so you can see what’s going on.

A basic microwave such as Tesco one with knobs on like I have will run on a modified square wave but psw will run anything and these days the price difference is not so great. A pure sine wave inverter will generally be quite a bit larger so make sure youve got room. When I changed mine I was limited in choice by what would fit in the available space.

I would have thought that too. However it appears that some PSW inverters are purer than others. The one I bought would not run the intelligent charger for my ebike. It was a Giandel 300W unit. I returned it.

I just read that some microwave ovens will run on a modified sine wave but if they do they will not operate efficiently.

Its a very basic 600 watt Daewoo QTR1 microwave and a low powered 500 watt hairdryer I'm not intending to power anything else

NDS, Votronic, Dometic, Buttner, Victron make good pure sine wave inverters. Maybe others, I don't know. The higher end Buttner are rebadged Votronic.
