Well we’ve just got back from doing the NC 500, done a total of 1634 miles on this our proper first trip in our Motorhome, roads were quiet and it was a great trip, we saw plenty of spots to spend the night, did some campsites too. Didn’t see any of the dreaded midges either. Weather was a bit chilly and wet some days but didn’t stop our enjoyment of the trip. After reading a fair bit about this route being too busy this year and not a good idea I’d say that was definitely not the case at all.

Too early for the midge!
It’s around this time of the year, could be belayed, because it’s been cooler than normal.

Not in the last week or so in D&G!:crying:

We are just on the way back from a two week tour (Not the NC 500) The weather was discusting even for Scotland. Cold and wet any midge's around at the moment can only be swimming
We had a good time though and found some cracking wild spots, never needed a camp site. There are also more water / cassette service points now that makes life easier. Don't forget that booze is about 20% dearer in Scotland.
There seems to be loads of hire vans speeding about this year.

We spend all our long weekends and our holidays on Loch Torridon. We’re here for 4 nights just now - blazing hot yesterday. Midges are starting to come out - dawn and dusk but we had dinner outside last night watching the sun go down over the loch. Roads not too bad yet - we saw many more campers than there would have been ore-pandemic but far fewer than there were last summer. School holidays is when it will hit.

That top picture is about 300 yards from where I live. Why didn't you drop in to say hello???

Have just found out that my wife and daughter saw you! They were out with our dogs and saw you with yours - she recognised the MH in the pic. BTW there are plans for waste disposal for MH to be put in at the harbour (although there are a few NIMBY responses to the proposal by the council).

We have been a week home after 4 wonderful weeks in Scotland. Just mooching about as there is no reason to drive every day. Not busy and better staying away from the tourist NC500. Next trip will include Kyntyre.

Where is it? I'm currently in the borders but heading north.

Village called Portgordon, couple of miles from Buckie, about 15 from Elgin. Parking next to harbour - make sure you say hello to the seals that are normally basking on the beach when the tide is out

Looks very nice. I may not get that far North. I don't want to spend too much time driving.

Mind have a look at that later in the year. Thanks. Hadn’t heard of the Heart 200 either!!
