Nazare, Portugal - Aires / Sites ? (1 Viewer)

Hi,

We would love to visit Nazare on the west coast of Portugal again - last time was in 2020 just before Covid, and there were several areas to park the MH down by the marina, but I've read that those no longer exist.

Please can anyone recommend anywhere to park please - and if possible stay a night or two in the town?

I am interested in stop overs here as well. Amazing surf there I am told and some of the biggest waves ever recorded.

It is definitely to be recommended - when we visited in Feb 20, the swell was classed as medium sized waves, but it was incredible to see the power of the waves. We really enjoyed a visit to the lighthouse and surfing exhibition. The size of the waves is apparently due to an offshore limestone canyon / ledge, so waves arrive from their trip across the Atlantic and hit the ledge and have nowhere to go other than to become massive waves! From what we saw, all the surfing there is via jetski tow-ins.

We parked at the top overlooking the lighthouse, but it was pretty tricky to get back out.

Hi LesW! Thanks very much that's really helpful. I've got a couple of the other Sites Apps but until about 5 mins ago, I didn't have the S4S App, thanks for the recommendation!
