National Trust campsites aren’t discounted for NT members so doubt this trial is free to members.Does anyone know, is that free to NT members or payable by everyone?
If you can read the small print on the Facebook post quoted above, it says that subsidies for members are being considered for the future.Does anyone know, is that free to NT members or payable by everyone?
National Trust grass. Which is much prettier and more traditionally English than your common-or-garden grassWhat do you get for your £10 besides parking on their grass?
NB
I have been a member for many years.
It's got history innit.National Trust grass. Which is much prettier and more traditionally English than your common-or-garden grass
All right, but apart from the grass, the heritage, the sanitation, the education, tearooms, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the the National Trust ever done for us?And somewhere to exercise the dogs
Don't forget the car stickers. It separates the common folk from the rest! All right, but apart from the grass, the heritage, the sanitation, the education, tearooms, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the the National Trust ever done for us?
Wild camping is illegal in England & this is like the French Aires. I’m not sure what you think £10 would get you here, it’s a great scheme if run out for vanners & if any discount for NT members would be an added bonus I feel. I would likely join againNo mention of times to arrive or leave. I guess us members will get free parking either side of the overnight. I think it's expensive as aside from a toilet there's no facilities or any nearby attractions -- or even a bus stop
Me too.... any discount for NT members would be an added bonus I feel. I would likely join again

No mention of times to arrive or leave
CAMpRA have a survey about this that is worth doing https://campra.org.uk/campra-national-trust-survey/ Anything that shows interest in UK Aires is worth doingExcellent news, let's hope nobody abuses it.
£10 looks reasonable value.
Would make a great overnight stopover.

the leave by 8.30 will be an issue for us, just wonder how strictly that will be enforced
I missed that but member get free parking during the day. There is usually a ticket machine for non members.View attachment 508248

Agree nice idea but a bit expensive for just parking. No mention of times to arrive or leave. I guess us members will get free parking either side of the overnight. I think it's expensive as aside from a toilet there's no facilities or any nearby attractions -- or even a bus stop
Us too often don't wake up until 9:00 when we are in the van. 10:30 would be a very early start for us.View attachment 508248

You'd have to trot across to the ticket machine in your jim jamsAgree nice idea but a bit expensive for just parking.

Really, illegal and like French Aires, that's 2 new ones on me.Wild camping is illegal in England & this is like the French Aires. Fixed it for you Brian……..I think it's a great idea and hope it is soon rolled out to more sites.
I certainly wouldn't object to a £10 fee as I've had pretty good value from my life membership of NT which I purchased in 1973 for the grand sum of £30. (I can't find a Smug Emoticon)
Come on Jim, you know that Wild camping is trespassing if you do not get the permission of the landowner so it is a civil matter, there is no specific law saying it is ‘illegal’ but because most land is owned by ‘someone‘ you should get their permission first, otherwise any responsible person without permission wouldn’t do it.What law makes it illegal?
I don't think the national trust did all of the above I'm pretty sure the Romans started all that shit the national just saw a business opportunityAll right, but apart from the grass, the heritage, the sanitation, the education, tearooms, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the the National Trust ever done for us?
Just to name a few perfectly legal spots.Come on Jim, you know that Wild camping is trespassing if you do not get the permission of the landowner so it is a civil matter, there is no specific law saying it is ‘illegal’ but because most land is owned by ‘someone‘ you should get their permission first, otherwise any responsible person without permission wouldn’t do it.
