Can anyone shed any light on what this gadget is please? On the outside back panel of our recently acquired B534, Yr 2000, there are two of these, one above the other about 3ft apart. They are 2-3 inches long, the lower one facing down, the upper facing up. They look as though they should be supporting something but I wouldn't think they are substantial enough for a ladder, especially as there are only two. Any ideas welcome!! Thanks.

Could be for something like this.

All excellent guesses but 1) TV mast exists in wardrobe. Thanks for the offer of a mast but we don't 'do' TV in the van (or WiFi) and will be chucking out the one we've inherited. 2) Bike rack is already fitted. 3) Too far away from water source for outdoor shower. 4) Doesn't look as though it would take a uni-bracket - and why two if it's for a uni anything?
If they're definitely for a TV mast we'll leave them in situ rather than have holes where they come off. Thanks to all who took the time to answer - if you think of anything else.......

How about a picture of the whole back of the van? Cover the number plate

Pics as requested. The upper one is covered in duct tape as the opening is upwards and we thought it might be a rain trap. (The bike rack is removed to allow us to shut the gates). John (ret'd engineer) is adamant that they would not support anything heavy as they seem to be glued on with no sign inside the van of any stronger fixings. He wants me to contact Hymer - I'm beginning to think we should just accept the mystery and get on with enjoying her. Fifteen years of wonderful motorhoming with help, advice and fun through Fun and I can't wait to get away again.

Here you go......

If you don’t want them on there then get some cheese wire to get them off and then lots of elbow grease....😃

WOW!! Thank you all for helping to solve an insignificant but very annoying mystery. Perhaps now we can get on with the rewiring, the water system, the bathroom renovation, the cab and dashboard carpeting etc. !!!, none of which has bothered John as much as these two little scraps of plastic! I'm sure I'll be back with more questions before long.... Thanks again. Gill.

If you decide to leave them on just drill a hole in the bottom of the upper one so that any water it gathers can drain out ... will look a lot better than gaffer tape! :giggle:

Good idea. I'll get him indoors on it. We're having our first sleep in the van tonight and I've just been clambering around making the drop down overcab bed up. Surprisingly it's no more difficult than the bed in the Luton of our Elddis was - actually it's easier. Can't wait to get away properly, fingers crossed for Antibes in September.
