We seriously looked at upgrading our van at the end of last year, simply too much gear, too many bikes and not enough space, let alone payload. So we were almost set on C1 and a huge Bürstner Argos 747 which would have solved many issues but was also a ton of cash and when our current van is only 6yrs old and our youngest child is 10yrs old it's highly likely we would down size in say 5yrs or so to something more suitable for a couple with a compact camping terrier well that and perhaps a drop down bed when any of the children still want to join us.
So over Christmas i put together a plan to upgrade a few things, give us more space and hopefully solve the payload and here's what i've done so far:
And this will also make us slightly more reasonable in weight, i may have been a few KGs over the mythical 3500kgs on occasion
So my learning is that as your children get bigger then you need more space in your van, logic i guess
Roller blades, scooters, horse riding kit, canoe, paddle boards, fishing gear, slack lines and bikes keep them happy and occupied.
And to think i made do with an Eagle eye action man.
Now to learn how to reverse with a trailer, my nemesis !!!
So over Christmas i put together a plan to upgrade a few things, give us more space and hopefully solve the payload and here's what i've done so far:
- Had a tow bracket installed (done today, just needs to be inspected and signed off tomorrow)
- Bought a high top trailer 2.5 x 1.3m (internal) now converting it to take 6 full size bikes and a dog trailer
- Added a 2nd Thetford cassette, we last about 36hrs on a single cassette with 5 people
- Installed a Pioneer 2 din Apple CarPlay nav/radio
- Installed a Tyrepal TPMS (nice piece of kit)
- Added a Mirror Guard cup holder (gets in the way a bit and the holes are a bit small..)
- Had a BBQ gas point installed
- EasyTop rear air suspension (manual) arrived yesterday for my next weeks project
And this will also make us slightly more reasonable in weight, i may have been a few KGs over the mythical 3500kgs on occasion
